And I REALLY need a hand selecting some games for it. I will of course be purchasing the no brainers like NHL08 and Tiger Woods golf 08. Past that I have no idea what is good. However I would like to round things out by finding two other types of games. One is a racing type game and the other would be like a fighting style game similar to Mortal Kombat.

I saw an add a while back for a racing game that looks like tons of fun. I'm not into the pure racing games like formula 1, instead the one I saw on TV was a rally type of game racing around moutain trails, dirt tracks, and some on the road but the vehicles could take damage and running someone off the road or trying to smash their car to pieces seemed to be an acceptable strategy. Would LOVE a game like that.

Fighting games, no idea what is out there. Not looking for a boxing type game but along the same lines as Mortal Kombat would be cool.

For a racing game I am waiting until January for Burnout: Paradise. IF you want a simulation (read: boring) game, then I am not sure. As for a Rally game, I am betting that you should wait until early Oct for Sega Rally.

November has Ace Combat coming out - what should be a sweet Top-Gun style airplane game

Gears of War - must have 3rd person shooter

BioShock/ Halo 3 - must have 1st person shooters

Check out sites like www.ign.com or www.gamespot.com or www.gamerankings.com for reviews before you buy games. Generally their reviews are spot on.

Forza 2 is supposed to be amazing as far as racing games go.

wait... racing game? Forza Motorsport 2! It's closer to the sim side of things, but it's still a blast. At least worth a rental. As far as fighting games, Dead or Alive 4 is pretty good (though pretty tough, especially online).

In regards to the rally game; you may be referring to 'Dirt' It is the latest of the Colin Macrae series.

If you're interested; I'd be willing to sell it to you. (I thought it was 2 player split screen but it is only multi-player on line)

Forza 2 is great and Project Gotham Racing 3 isn't as bad either...<more arcady>

Virtua Tennis and Table Tennis are also 2 games that are regularly played at my place.

If I can make a suggestion; spend the money to get an Elite and I hope you have a TV that will make full use of the 360.

PGR 3 or 4 if you're looking for arcade like driving game. I've quite enjoyed my copy of PGR 3.

An oldie, but a great game, Condemned. It is a horror game, an insanely intense.

i also recommend that you use metacritic.com which will give you the compilation ratings of many games.

speaking for myself, halo 3, tiger, and the burnout series are all total must haves. i subscribe to official xbox magazine too which gives me info.

xbox live too is a must...there are demos and downloads galore there for new games and the arcade ones too.

i can only recommend that you try them to find out what you like...there is alot out there!

It doesnt matter what genre is your favorite, everyone loves Guitar Hero. It's a must for any gaming console owner.

Huh. Funny this thread should come up tonight.

I JUST bought a 360 and Guitar Hero II (x2), and 6 of us had a rockin' good time tonight, even though I can't feel my fingers now. Expensive, but so worth it.
