Default Stag in Vegas

Fellow CPers, I need some help in setting up a Stag/Stagette to Vegas next spring. They'll be a group of ~20 girls and guys and I'd like to set up a charter flight for the group as well as find somewhere to stay.

I've scoured the OT forum but wasn't able to find any leads.

Who's got some ideas for charter flights and hotels for my group??

Give Sample00 a pm. He might be able to help as he's the resident CP Travel Coordinator.

Find out if anybody in the group that is going has been to Vegas before. If they have booked a room, or have a club card then the chances are good that they can get you better rates on rooms.

My first trip there my friend got us a room at MGM Grand for under $60/night. Out of curiousity I tried to book during the same time and a couple other random times and I only got $130/night. After we went there and we signed up for an MGM Player card we too get the deals to book for really cheap. The kicker is that those rates are offered at certain times only.

My wife's aunt goes to Vegas quite a bit and spends tonnes of money and builts up lots of point on her players card. In fact my wife's parents and aunt and uncles go to Vegas twice per year. For their next trip her parents rooms are free for the first two nights and they pay $50/night for the next two nights... her aunt doesn't have to pay for her room.

So check with somebody in your group to see if they go regularily or have been and get these offers. Hopefully they'll be willing to book the rooms for you.

A charter flight to Vegas is probably at least $25000 depending on the size of plane. I know the client I work for pays over $6000 for a one day return flight to North Central Alberta in a 19 passenger plane. I can't imagine what Vegas would cost.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, if the OP means a charter flight as in one of those companies that run a 737 on a non-regular route but sell to the general public (like Air Transat), that's one thing. If you want a 20 passenger plane for your own group to Vegas and back, you're gonna spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I just went to Vegas on a stag. We got a great deal but didnt use a chartered flight. We just scoured the online travel sites and ended up w/ the Luxor for 530 after taxes including flight and 3 nights hotel. Obviously it kills the dream of a chartered flight, but you could book many people into a hotel for a lot cheaper. My best advice is makes sure you pay a little extra for a hotel that is right on the strip.

renting an aircraft is different than a chartered flight.
taking a charter flight will definately be much cheaper and will also get you there in less time.
what I believe you are looking for is a group package.
if you would like me to assist you in the booking, feel free to give me a shout.

The Rhino is a must for a stag. Best "Gentleman's Club" down there.

Clubs: Friday or Saturday at Tyrst (in Wynn) is amazing, best club down there IMO. The line is huge, so try and find one of those services to get you in (I think it works out to an extra $40 per person), but you walk right by the entire 2 hour line.

Hotels: MGM is the best bang-for-the-buck on the strip.

When I booked a group I found there were 2 different options. To save some money you could wait until the last minute and everyone booked their own rooms, but being last minute there was no guarantee that everyone would get a flight down, let alone into the same hotel. Or you could pay a couple hundred extra, have a travel company do it for you, and ensure everything is taken care of.

With the size of your group you might want to do #2, unless everyone is OK with being spread out all over the place in different hotels.

Considering how variable prices can be for various hotels on the strip, it's hard to really say which hotel is the best bang for the buck since it depends on the deal.

It'll be a lot better trip if you leave the broads at home.

Its been a few years, but we had a stag with about 30 people arriving from all over the place.

You can get group rates from hotels, but usually from Calgary a package deal/group rate with a charter might work out better. But, not always.

Charter's taxes are quite high these days, not like the hayday of vegas in late 90's with the old $99 flights

Shop around when you have such a large group, book well in advance and definately don't wait thinking you'll find cheaper deals 2 weeks before you want to go

I don't know if its still the same, but obviously spearmint rhino is great, so is Olympic gardens, especially later like 2-4am. Just remember never ever ever go into the VIP room.

When you have a large group of guy the girls/doormen will try to convince you to go into the VIP room, never ever go.

Sometimes VIP room are ok, at Olympic Gardens me and a buddy got in for $100 USD for 1 hr with our 2 girls, got probably 5-10 free drinks as well thrown in. Was nice for the privacy.

So yeah, just make sure you shop around. Often large groups you'll find everyone is looking on their own and you'll end up only booking a smaller part of the whole group. I dont' know why this is, probably because everyone always thinks Vegas is still dirt cheap to get too. Certainly not the case anymore

BTW chartering a plane to vegas, just to give you an idea the last time I priced this with Westjet for a client, it was about $33,000 CAD each way. Mind you thats the full sized plane, but still even the lear jets executive rentals are way up there.

Good luck and have fun!

Well said, Thor. The days of $99 deals to vegas are long gone.

Every so often I look for cheap flights to Vegas- maybe not even getting a hotel; just fly there, stay for a few hours, then fly back.
