Default Queens of the Stone Age to play Edmonton

hope this isn't fata.

they are playing saskatoon, van city and edmonton AND NOW CALGARY

at the shaw conference center. definately worth the trip to the city that is one big trailer park. $39.50 plus fees.

love their new album. one of the most underated rock bands around.

already seen them once when they opened for NIN, but i got kicked out half way thru the set for crowd surfing. (don't worry i made it back in for nails)

presale starts wed. 27 10am. gen public thurs. 10am.

EDIT: OMFG they just announced on 92.9 that they are playing the corral on Aug 30. this saves a lot of us some driving time.

and can a mod please change the title of this thread to Queens of the Stone Age to play Calgary

When is the show?
Shaw is a great place to watch a concert.

Huge fan, but there is no way in hell I'm driving to dumpsville if they're playing any venue bigger than the Starlite Room. They don't come across in the barns, that NIN opening spot was horrific.

Well that is disappointing. I am a pretty huge fan and have never seen them in concert and I doubt I'll find anyone to drive to Edmonton with me to see it.

How can they not come here? Lame.

Thought they were pretty good at mac hall. Shaw isn't an arena. It's actually a pretty good place to watch a show. Somewhere around 4000 capacity.

And to think that was the band I bought the ticket for. Glad NIN kicked some ass that night.

I'd like to see the Queens in a smaller venue. Looks like not this time around then...

I thought their album was OK at first listen. But after a couple listens I am really diggin it. Different style than their last couple albums. More fuzzed out. Some my favorite tracks are Sick Sick Sick, The Hollow, 3's & 7's, Suture up your future, River in the Road and Run, Pig, Run.

I must say that I am pretty choked that their are not coming here. I have everyone of their albums.

I'll have my fingers crossed hoping they'll add a date here.

I know dude, it was really bad. Terrible mix which did not help the already droney guitars and muddy tone the band have made their sound. The sludgey Sabbath thing did not work in the Saddledome, unlistenable. I've actually seen Queens at the Starfish Room in Vancouver in '98, I got Josh's guitar right from his cabinet into my ear and his vocals from the man's own monitor, that's how small and cool that club was.

Queens of the Stone Age will, I would bet, be playing the Corral at the end of August...they have a couple of free days between Edmonton and Vancouver tour dates.
And there it is on Ticketmaster:

A shame that Kyuss isn't doing a reunion of some sort, they blew QOTSA out of the water and were just getting started.

It would be fan-f'ing-tastic if Kyuss got back together. But sadly I highly doubt that will ever happen. Everyone in that band has done so many side projects and have a very different sound now. It wouldn't make sense as a musician for them to essentially start back at the beginning.

Is that some kind of joke? Every QOTSA album is 200 times better than anything Kyuss ever did...I know the "stoner rock" snobs love Kyuss..but seriously, they were not very good.

Queens are more accessible and write hooks, so yeah they've had some commercial success. Great stuff but the latest albums have been getting weak, nowhere near Kyuss territory.

Anyways, I have the HOB presale password is anyone wants it.
