SUPERBAD.....One Badass movie
Went and saw a screening of Superbad last night, I had huge expectations and it met every single one of them. So many good gags and way more to it than the preview. I think the entire ride home, my friend and I were quotin lines from the movie. So good, definitely check it out.
Superbad essentially ends my summer movie fest(well, the ones I wanted to see) and Superbad ranks in my top 3 of the year.
1. Transformers
2. Superbad
3. Live Free or Die Hard
4. Bourne Ultimatum
5. Knocked Up
On a side note.....the dude who plays McLovin in Superbad was in the theatre last night....he was awesome.

"Fogel? Dude, Fogel is the anti poon!"
I haven't laughed that hard in a movie in awhile. Although I can see why many people would think the movie is bad.
Crude humor at it's best!

Does this movie have some sort of a Canadian connection? Is there a similar connection too with 40 Year-old Virgin and Knocked Up? Both are excellent movies, I'm just curious to know...

Seth Rogan and his buddy (both from Vancouver) wrote it while in high school

Yeah, Seth Rogen is from Vancouver and stars in 40 year old, knocked up and also writes and has a role in Superbad. Judd Apatow, director of Knocked up and 40 Year Old, produced Superbad.

I've wanted to see this since there was a thread on here about this move months ago.
But there is so much promotion for it right now that I'm getting a, "Push the advertising and get everyone out first week because once the public knows how lame it is the movie will be on DVD in a month" vibe.

Any movie that where Michael Cera (George Michael Bluth) plays an awkward teenager is going to be hilarious…he is a pretty awesome actor considering he was only 15 when he stared on Arrested Development and only just turned 19…
He is a Canadian as well

The lead M. Cera is Canadian too IIRC.

If you like these movies, check out undeclaired and freeks and geeks. Judd Apatow did both.
How I Met Your Mother has had many of the actors show up as well.

the movie got a 91% on rottentomatoes.com. and if you've ever gone to that site, you know that it's rare for any movie to get over 90% (there have only been 7 so far this year with Bourne Ultimatum, Sicko, and the other Apatow movie Knocked Up being the only big ones)

Was going to see Rush Hour 3, but with the terrible reviews I think I'll go see Superbad now.

well the older movies get higher ratings since there's a lot fewer online reviews to poll from. i've never seen a movie released in the last few years score 100% there, there's always one jackass with a bad review that sqews the results

Well even though the rottentomatoes.com rating has fallen below 90% (gasp) Roger Ebert has given it a good review.
Quote:
The movie reminded me a little of "National Lampoon's Animal House," except that it's more mature, as all movies are. It has that unchained air of getting away with something. In its very raunchiness, it finds truth, because if you know nothing about sex, how can you be tasteful and sophisticated on the subject?
