Vtech telephone problem

hey gang
started to experience some problems with our Vtech cordless telephones yesterday.
whenever we go to use one, it now says in the display, that it is "unable to place call at this time"
yet, the speaker phone function works just fine.
it is a 3 phone system and it worked fine up until the day before yesterday, so I am not quite sure whats transpired.
any thoughts?

vtechs are some of the lowest quality phones on the market. Every vtech phone I've had and my parents have had has broken in a few months. Sorry, I don't know what's wrong with your system.

Check the battery. Every single Vtech phone my family has owned has needed to have the battery replaced after 6-12 months.

ya but you should replace your battery with a phone that isn't garbage. Vtech are terrible. I bought a set of cordless Vtech's with airmiles a few years back and I don't think they lasted a year. You get what you pay for unfortunately.
