Default Sirius reception in Calgary recently

I've had Sirius in my car for nearly 2 years now, and I've been very happy with it. I was worried about attatching the antena to the exterior of my car, because I figured some yahoo woudl rip it off just for fun. For this reason, I attached it to my rear dash board. I drive a newer coupe with a large rear windshield, so the antena worked as well as if I had it outside. I have not changed this set up the entire time I've owned the radio, but for the last 3 days I have not been able to get a signal in many places in Calgary. Specifically, around 50 ave and Macleod Tr, and Sifton Rd (or is it blvd...the street that attaches 14 st sw to Elbow trail and runs along the Elbow River).

Has anybody else noticed a drop in the reception quality on sirius in the last couple of days?

I experienced some spotty reception yesterday too. Seems to be OK today for the little while that I had it on.

Thanks for reminding me. I have to call Sirius to find out why they've been billing me again.

I cancelled several months ago because of similar reception issues to what you've been seeing. Anybody have their 1-800 number handy? sirius.ca is blocked here at work for some reason.

reception isn't very good up in edmonton either. I have the built in satellite radio on my car and it's been cutting out on me lately. My parents who do not have the built in one have also been complaining about bad reception

Yeah, I've been experiencing bad reception for at least 3 days now. Not just in the car but on the bus and in my apartment too. Usually there are no issues whatsoever, except behind that one brick apartment building by Fort Calgary.

Yes! I've been noticing that in the South end of the city as well. It's annoying as hell when Stern is halfway through a rant, and all I get is garbled banter.

Well, I'm glad it's not a problem with my set-up, but it sucks that they are having this problem right now. I mean, I know it's pretty cloudy, but we've had worse weather since I've had the radio, and this is the first problem I've had.

Just talked to a friend here in the city, he also couldn't get any type of signal today. He made a call and they told him the repeater is down, that can't be correct though has to be the satellite as well.

Same deal with me, set my up mp3 recorder to record the Stern show, woke up and there was nothing on there. I was fine on Tuesday night.

Hopefully they'll fix it up by tonight.

Ya I agree it sucks right now. I paid for a two year subscription a year ago and I have turned it off recently because the reception has been brutal.

It has been fine in Red Deer. So the satellite should be fine. But I havn't listened since 1:15pm today.

I just drove from Ontario to the west coast and found the reception bad all the way until BC, but now it is spotless.

Cutting out again this evening, must be some huge issues with the satellites right now.

This is the first time in 2 years that I've lost a signal.

Wasn't working for me again this morning. Man this is bugging me. If this keeps up on the weekend, I'll be looking for a free month.

How was everyone's reception today?

I didn't even turn my radio on. Hooked my mp3 player to my laptop and streamed Sirius to record the Stern show.

Mine has been good since Saturday. Hopefully that problem (whatever it was) is fixed for good.

I spoke to the Sirius rep who visits my store every week. He said Sirius was aware of the problem and it seems to be an issue with the Calgary region. They seem to be having an issue with a repeater. For further assistance, contact customer service. He wasn't sure if they would be offering reimbursment but that customer service would help them.

FYI, the Stiletto 10 is being discontinued and is being blown out at some retailers. Sirius conducted some studies and are releasing a new portable unit to go along with the Stiletto 100.
