Default Clutch at The Whiskey

the Godsmack thread below reminded me, did anyone see Cluch playing at The Whiskey on Sunday? or probaby better yet, are there any fans here? it had to be one of the best live shows i've ever seen, the intensity that those guys have is just insane and they had the crowd going like i've never seen before. i was also susprised at how packed the place was, they've really seemed to have gained some popularity in the last while (i knew that the popular Siruis rock channels played them, though i've never heard them on any regular radio station)

and if you've never heard of these guys, i'd highly recommend them if you like hard rock with a bit of a blues/funk twist

I have a couple of their albums. I think they are alright. By rights I should like them more, but there is just something about them that is preventing me from being a big fan. Can't put my finger on it. Maybe the singers voice or the jumping style, I don't know...anyways. I thought about going, but I don't know anyone who has even heard of them let alone like them enough to go to a show. But I think I'll bust them out for the afternoon on my iPod.

A friend of mine is a huge fan. They've been to Calgary 3 times in two years and he told me this show was the worst of the 3....still I would've liked to see them.

really? i thought they were very good. what exactly didn't he like about it? the only negatives about the concert was the hour delay and one of the 2 opening bands was quite bad, but Clutch's actual performance was superb

I was at the show and was extremely dissapointed in the show. The band just didnt have it that night, the crowd was amazing as was the vibe in the club, but Clutch just werent together in any of the songs. In terms of shows i have seen recently, this one was definitly the most dissapointing. It didnt help that it wa at the Whiskey which was a terrible place for a show. The fact they put the merch table right next to the door to the smoking cage out back which was right next to the stairs coming downstairs that lead nowhere because the dressing room blocked the back corner was retarted. someone should be beat down for that.

wow, i have an entirely different opinion. both my friend and i who are long time Clutch fans felt they played great, very tight with a lot of jump. and this is coming from someone who has listened to every album from Pro-Rock on dozens of times each. we were on the right hand side of the stage on the second floor with a great view and the sound quality was excellent. almost sounds we saw two different shows

i dont know that we saw two different shows, i was with my buddy who like you is a big clutch fan and knows more about music than anyone i know. He in paticular thought the show was lacking bigtime. I thought it was decent, but left more to be desired, especially considering it was clutch playing and not some random nobodies. Maybe my expectations going in were too high, but i was expecting a show that was going to blow me away. From everything i had heard about these guys and the music they played, they should have been better.

It didnt help much that they were all plastered and i was sober as i had to work in the morning, but i left felling like there was more that could have been.

If I would have known I would have been there in a heartbeat. Clutch is one of my favorite bands along with GC.

This show was an "average" Clutch show and my 4th. Love Clutch, but they weren't as tight as I've seen before as well as the crowd was filled with maroons. What's wrong with people today and their lame form of "moshing"? No real unity in it today and I was just waiting for the fights to explode. I would imagine that Clutch does the Hall next time around as it seems they are definitely big enough for it now.

I'd also disagree with the the poster's comments about one of the opening bands not being very good. I thought they were both great, yet different bands. Clutch always seems to bring cool openers with them that aren't Clutch part deux.
