NHL 08: First Look, IGN
NHL 08 to focus more on defensive prowess, skill stick to get improvements! It doesn't look like the new jerseys will make it into the game in time for EA to give consideration to them.
Edit: It looks like rather than getting your ass knocked off the puck anytime a defender comes after you, you can use the L1 button and right analogue to direct the puck past the defender and then the left analogue to skate around to retreive the puck and continue a break away! You can literally undress the other team!
xbox 360 and PS3 mentioned in the article, wii notably absent.

Impressive to say the least…
Where is Jordon?
Its about this time of year he reminds us that he is personally invited to EA to critic the NHL games…something about him an internet hockey nomad…

I was not impressed by NHL 07. I'll stick to the 2K series... better hockey.

I'll have to look at these after work is done (blocking games websties, how dare they!). Only thing I really care about is a Wii release of the game. Skill stick, pshawww, meet Wii stick! (hmm, on second thought, I don;t know if I would call it that, might be a bit confusing)

Aww, no way man. EA owns all hockey franchises. NHL 94 revolutionized the game, and now NHL 07 did it again. I will never go back to pressing B and A for a one timer. My goals are ALLLLLL ME!

Why not for PC?
With the recent releases of video cards and processors, one would expect that the newer games would include a platform for PC.

Is the PS2 version going to be the same as the last four years? I know last year I got all excited about some of the changes but they were only for the 360.

I'm pretty sure PS2 will still release 08 on the same engine as 06, but don't quote me on that. Developers want people to get the new consoles because it's more cost effective to only develop one engine per game.
As for the question about whether it's going to be released on PC, my guess would be that it will be. EA would be stupid not to.

none of the shots are actual gameplay shots are they?
I don't like looking at movie shots because it doesn't show you anything about the game.

I love 07 but there's some definite flaws they need to improve. There's way too many trickle in goals where the goalie looks like an idiot, faceoffs aren't a real advantage since they're easy to intercept and your teamates AI is pretty weak. They alway do the wrong things.
Still a very fun game and I expect 08 to be one of the best ever.

Have you seen this site, www.nhl94.com?
We play NHL '94 for Genesis and SNES with emulators, over netplay, with online leagues and everything!

NHL 07 for PC was a waste of money. IT was exactly NHL 06, but with the option to pass with the control stick instead of a button (which was a pretty neat feature I admit).
Hopefully NHL 08 will have the next gen stuff for PC. I don't get why they wouldn't. People that actually want to play these games probably have the horsepower to run it. The Xbox360 graphics chip and processing chip really are not good compared to the mid-range PC builds.

yeah, as somebody who hasn't broken down and got a console yet (So tempting tho...) I'd love it if it was released for PC...with the new engine, not the crappy nhl 07 (translation nhl 06) version

dammit, I've made it through not buying a 360 for NHL 07, but this isn't going to work. I'm getting one.
