Sports bars in Calgary other than Schanks?
I'm looking to plan a gathering of about 25 or so people within the next couple of weeks. I'm rather tired of Schanks but I have a feeling there might not be any other options. It's hard to get this group of people together because many are stick of club scene.
Are there any other good (aka not shady) sports bars in Calgary? Or perhaps you have another suggestions for this group of people on a Saturday night. The age range is about 20 - 33.
Thanks

Flames Central maybe
Are you just looking for a place to hang out? I find Limmericks a great place to go because I love there beer there (best Guniness in town that I've ran across). Any of the pubs owned by the same guy are pretty good although Limmericks has a couple seperate rooms you could easily fit 20-35 people.

The lounge at the Boston Pizza on 130th ave SE has a mezzanine that holds about 30 people. Friends have booked it before for friends' birthday parties.
I also think Limericks on Macleod near Glenmore also has areas upstairs that can be set aside for a group party.

Jameson's Irish Pub in the NE (near Sunridge Mall) has a room that they frequently set aside for groups of that size.
Edit: I should add, the room has a couple big flat screens and numerous other smaller TVs. It is where they host the MNF QB1 in the fall, and all the PPV events. It is a pretty good setup.

I stepped foot in Moose Mcguire's for the first time last night. Seems like it would be a good place to watch some games.

It is. I go there occasionally if I'm at the university late.

There is a new Jamieson's in Brentwood, not sure if it's open yet.
I like to head to Coach and Horses down by the collesium movie theatre across the street. Depends where you live.

You could probably call ahead and get Melrose to open up the bottom part of the bar for you guys. Possibly even book it for you exclusively.
With a gathering of 25, no matter where you choose to go, I would suggest calling well ahead and confirming that they will be able to cater to you at such a time.

I think it opens on August 17.

Mile One is a new bar opening up on 10th ave downtown. Should be opening any week now. Will be somewhat similar to Melrose from what I've heard. Sporty with good food, and hot staff.

Where in Brentwood is it? Seems like an odd place with Kilk's right there, but I guess they do get a ton of business (especially during the university year).

A bit of a bump here:
I've tried calling at least a dozen places to make some reservations and either no one is answering, voicemail boxes are full, or I'm leaving messages and not hearing back.
I hate to ask, but is anyone here a manager etc. of a pub here in city that could help me out? Please send me a PM.
