You can partially see it on the right hand side of the top one... in the bottom one it is blocked by other buildings.

Those are the Penny Lane Towers... currently under construction I believe.

They just got their permit. The demolition of Penny Lane is already well uderway though.
One thing that sticks out in those pictures is how badly the parking lots around the train tracks need to go.

I'm wrong... they are approved but not listed as under construction yet... soon I believe though.

It's been 14 years since I moved from, and was last in Calgary. Is the Petro Canada building still the tallest? If not what is and how many floors? Any planning on being bigger?

Yes, Petro Canada is still the tallest, but the new tallest is under construction. It's called "The Bow" and it will be EnCana's new building. You can see it right by PetroCan in those pictures, it looks like one half of Toronoto's city hall.

The Bow will also be the tallest tower outside of Toronto in Canada.

Petro-Canada Centre already holds that title as well for now, if I'm not mistaken.

The tall blue and gold building next to First Canadian Centre (the BMO building) and close to TD Square will likely not be going up, I can tell you that right now.

I would also be surprised if many of these proposed projects get off the ground. I think most of what hasn't broken ground yet won't get built. Reason being is that they have the worst economics. This is why they aren't going up already. Check out that same site for cancelled buildings. There's plenty from the 1980s that were cancelled.

The first image makes the Bow seem like it is only 2nd to another building to the right of it. What building is that supposed to be?

Not sure what the other building is, but the reason the Bow seems shorter is just a matter of perspective. The other building is in the foreground while the Bow is further away from the camera.

There is some detailed info on the linked forum about The Bow... apparently it is possible there will be a 2nd tower in the future but it sounds like they are holding off until at least The Bow is built.
