That sounds so much like an Onion article I have trouble believing it.
Until someone besides "North Denver News" reports on it, I'm calling shenanigans.

I have a tab with Google and "Surgically alters thumbs to better use iPhone" as the search.
Every hour or so I click search. Initially it was just the North Denver News that had the story. Then a blog quoted it. Now 4 additional blogs quote it.
But everyone is quoting the same original story, there haven't been any confirmations, just echos.

I hope after all of this that he doesn't have battery issues...
besides that, ergonomics will dictate alot of the technology direction going forward.
who would alter themselves physically though?

I'm guessing that this was a recurring problem with many different gadgets. This might sound silly, but depending on where he lived and who his friends were it could have been a constant angle for people to pick on him. Plus he wouldn't get to enjoy all the new toys.
