Repairman steals a computer - Repair company denies responsbility
A lady calls a company called "Geek Choice" to get her computer looked at. She took a day off work, met the tech sent to her home.
He worked on the computer for 45 minutes and told her the hard drive was bad. He took away the system, promising to return it with a new hard drive.
When he didn't come back, she called Geek Choice and was told to call the police. The police say this guy has a criminal record. Geek Choice didn't do a background check on this when they hired him.
And Geek Choice's response?
Quote:
We insisted Mrs. Nixon notify the police about Spencer as he acted on his own as a thief. This was not a representation of Geek Choice and how we operate. Spencer began working for himself and chose his path. With no evidence of the cost of what was stolen, I cannot simply authorize purchase of a new computer for this customer. At the moment, I can only offer discounted future service.
