Default Installing a flange extension on a toilet

Can someone help me out with this. The flange is level to the floor and when I tried to re-install the toilet it wouldn't squish the wax ring. Some people say I just have to use 2 wax rings but the guy at home depot swears by the extension kit. If you look in the picture that's what I have right now. I figured I'd just have to take the 4 screws out, put the extender on top and screw it down with the new screws. But it only lines up with 2 of the screw holes. Will it damage the black piece if I screw them into it? How high should it be above the floor? I think I remember hearing 3/8" somewhere.

Did you just put in new tile? We did a reno, and then when reinstalling the toilets, the original screws were not long enough. So we got something like fat boy wax seals? They are really really fat, probably the heighth of 2 of the others. And we got different screws and just cut them to the appropriate heighth. The fat boy wax seals we got at Totem, they are fatter than the ones at Home Depot.

The tile is a new addition. The toilet hasn't been re-installed since then.

Yeah, that was same as us.

We never got the extension kits you are talkiing about or whatever. Just got those special "fat boy" wax seals, or whatever they are called, new longer screws and that was it.

I could have sworn this thread said "installing flame extension on a toilet"

I was a little worried.
