Following the Bill O'Reilly scandal, we have the Bill Maher scandal . . . . .

Once she gave up her job and modeling aspirations in October 2003, Maher berated her with politically incorrect racial slurs, roughed her up and threatened to hit her with a hammer, according to the suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The suit also alleges Maher cheated on Johnson "with at least one other woman" while they lived together. The 17-month relationship ended in May.

Maher's lawyer says the suit is the revenge of a scorned woman.

Hey it gives me a chance to show some consistency in these things. I gave O'Reilly the benefit of the doubt, and I'll do the same for Maher.

The famous guy always gets hammered in these things - sometimes rightly so, and sometimes because they're in the public eye.

Could just be a break up with a revenge hitch.

If she somehow wins this case even if it is true then it would be a new low for the American justice system.

I doubt this goes to court. It will probably be settled.

This one sounds even more concocted than the Bill O'Reilly one.

If her allegations are true and she is within her rights to file suit,(which it appears she is), then I would hope she would "somehow win"... otherwise it isn't saying much for the justice system.

Whether the amount she is seeking is deserved is another question and the one I think you meant to address. Just because she wins doesn't neccessarily mean she will be awarded the amount she is seeking.

And even if she does win it would hardly be "a new low for the American justice system" as there have been many cases won involving much more ridiculous accusations and financial awards. "Coffee was too hot" ring a bell?

As for my take...it seems a bit silly but then I hate the man so I would like to see him lose. I can believe the accusations about racial comments as it is a documented fact that he has made questionable statements about blacks in the past.

*Cue the, "Oh cuz you hate him the truth is irrelevant" replies* Not what I said but likely how everyone will read it.

"If her allegations are false she is still within her right to sue."

That's also true. I was alluding to her being able to file suit for the seemingly over-the-top financial amount based on the allegations. I guess nowadays you can ask for whatever amount you see fit. Of course being awarded it is a completely different story.
