75 years ago today, in Calgary...
...a great political movement was founded! Yes, believe it or not today is the 75th anniversary of the founding of the CCF. The meeting had about 1300 supporters attend, and was made up of farmers, lawyers, housewives and a variety of other citizens. The CCF grew out of the UFA (United Farmers of Alberta). The CCF was the predecessor to the NDP.
I know that there are a wide-variety of political supporters on CP, I thought that some of you might have found this interesting. There is an article on this in the Herald this morning, but for some reason I cannot find it online to provide you with a link.
