Default Why won't the Conservatives Make Our Streets Safer??

OK, the thread title just had to happen because of an earlier thread title that was just as misleading.

Harper has stopped this session of parliament though and the MP's go back to work on October with a new throne speech. This means that all of the legislation, including the aformentioned law and order program is scrapped, and they are basically starting over.

Should be interesting to have the confidence vote on Afghanistan as no one really seems to want an election at this point (including the public), but there are a lot of strong feelings on this topic.

As much as I hate seeing Harper as prime minister I can't stand the idea of Dion being in there either. I don't want to see another election until the Liberals have someone who is worthy of the leadership title.

It looks like that will be Ignatieff at this point. Once Dion is out, then he is the next logical choice. Personally I'm hoping that its Gallant though.

I'm hoping McKenna or Tobin will decide to run next time. Either of them would be a slam-dunk victory with very broad support, as opposed to Dion who is like a fish-out-of-water or Michael "I supported the Iraq Invasion" Ignatieff.

Its true that both of them would be good candidates. I like Dion !
I think that he is a very smart guy and he would be a good prime minister...but given his poor english he is an easy target.

Its simple Parlimentary process, Harper wants to start the session with the throne speech so that he can table key issues and force the opposition to either work them or force an election.

Its no different then the stuff that the Liberal's pulled off multiple times in the past. Chretian did the same thing more then once, and he also canceled the opposition days as well.

I think that the Law and Order program will be bought back into play. Harper is also giving his new cabinet ministers a chance to get thier message across including Peter McKay who will likely take the next month to fully communicate on the Afghan mission.

Dion as a prime minister scares me, he comes across as out of touch and completely clueless. He also dosen't strike me as very Prime Ministerial.

I agree, and he just doesn't seem personable.
The day that one of these parties realizes to run someone that people can relate to, I think we'll finally see another majority government.

In his latest priorities the law and order agenda is not listed. It has definitely taken a back seat for his cabinet. The focus is now on sovreignty, Afghanistan and of course the environment.
