Default Burnt Out

Been working crazy hours for the last 9 months or so. From 60-70 hours a week for the first 3 months, to about 4 months of 50 hour weeks, then another 2 and counting of 60+ hour weeks.

I was fine until last week, when I've really begun to feel lethargic all the time.

My job isn't physical, it's purely mental, but I need my brain in tip-top shape to do it and lately i've been feeling like a drone. Losing my weekends for the last couple months isn't helping.

I need to keep this pace for another 3 months or so and then perhaps I'll be able to take a 5 day vacation.

I don't have time in the day to eat real well, and get about 1 home-cooked meal a week. It's just not in the cards if this project is to succeed...

Anyone else in a similar situation? Anyone have any serious tips about how to get some more energy?

And don't say speed

Slack. Spend more time on CP. It recharges the brain.

i know exactly how you feel dude. this usually sounds crazy to people who arn't active, and i don't know what you like to do in your spare time, but i run and it gives me energy and makes me feel energized and ready to go every day. swear to god, it's the best thing that you can do to make yourself feel great. i can be tough to initially get into it, but once you get a routine going it's great. i've run my whole life, and i love it, and i got my wife into it and now she swears by it too. you just gotta get yourself up and doing it, despite your lack of time is can be managed.

I'll expand this to anything that gets the old heart rate up. I typically work longer hours like you but I can only do it if I get time to blow off some steam. I generally go for a quick run or climb (I have easy access to some climbing areas near work). Just try to do anything to get some exercise and some sun. It sounds dumb but it works wonders. Especially the sun part, I'm not sure what's up with that but I do know that I feel better when I get a nice dose of sunshine.

SouloftheFlame... I WAS in the exact same situation. Are you my evil twin? I was even sleeping in now and then because of it and missing work. I found drinking lots of water and exercising during the little free time I had helped a little. I eventually said it wasn't worth it and cut my hours to regular 40 hrs/week.

Having just watched Click, I think I did the right thing.

I've been working 45-50 hour weeks for about 10 months now. I'll come home everyday to my wife and two young boys (one is a baby), have supper, and once they're in bed, I'm spent. The extra $ on the paycheque was nice for a while, but now the whole thing is just wearing on me. No real end in sight, for fear of falling (further) behind in my workload.
