Agreed. I friend of my recently had a child and he and his wife figured that they couldn't afford a babysitter. So they struck a deal - she would work outside the home during the day and the husband would work from home as best he could and then go to the office in the evening to finish his projects. However, while working at home he had to leave the child in front of the boob tube for hours on end. At the age of 2 the child could say "Dora" and "backpack" and not much else.
They decided to try a new solution - leaving the baby with another mother who also has a 2 year old. The infants play together and the mother sings to them both and such and my friends child is developing much better now.
A channel like this may lead parents to believe that they are doing a good thing dumping the child in front of the TV.
