Default Guitar Hero 3 Preview!!!

This game looks AWESOME, and I already love the song list they have released, which apparently will be mostly original tracks and not covers!!!

Is this a different game from the one coming out in July?

Guitar hero is a fun game.

July is only a PS2 release, and all it is is an extension of GH 2 - it is an 80s based version with famous 80s songs.

GH3 is brand new with new locations, new battles, and Slash as the face of the franchise now.

Screw GH3. Keep your eyes open for a game called Rock Band.

Harmonix was the original developers of GH1 and GH2. Red Octane were the publishers. Red Octane sold the GH series to Take2 (I believe) and Harmonix was gone. NOT A SINGLE TEAM MEMBER THAT DEVELOPED GH1 AND GH2 ARE MAKING GH3. The team that made GH1 and GH2 are making the new game ROCK BAND, which includes guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. Expect ROCK BAND to thrash GH3 one reviews are out.

In fact videogame site 1up.com had a feature to put the 2 titles head to head in a video preview and Take2 didn't even show up with GH3. Most video game insiders expect ROCK BAND to make GH irrelevent.

Check out Rock Band (Sadly only for X360 and PS3)

Rock band is produced by EA which is the pure evil in todays video game environments.

GH3 is slated for Ocotber release, and will be releaseing a wireless guitar for the X360 - cant wait.

Rock Band looks cool, but how much will it cost? You have to buy all those props - the guitar will be $90 or so, how much are the drums? the mic?

Will be interesting to see, but I like Guitar Hero because I can just rock out myself, don't need to have 3 + people over to play the game.

IIRC, there's a $200 package that includes two guitars, drum kit, and mic. You can also buy the instruments individually if you don't want all four.

You can do the same thing with Rock Band; you don't need four people to play, but it gives you the chance to do so. If you just want to treat it like Guitar Hero and only play the guitar part while the computer plays the other instruments, you can do that.

Personally, I'll probably be picking up both games, since they'll each have a vastly different song list. I can't get enough of these games.

I will probably get the Encore. GHIII looks like it will be a fun game.

Rock Band will cost me a bunch of money to play with all of the accessories.

Guess my wife will be a groupie for a long time.

Hearing so much about this Guitar Hero game has me pretty interested. Is there two out already for the 360 and one more coming? Does it come with the Guitar? If I was to pick one up, which version should I get? Can you find used ones around?

Only Guitar Hero II is available for the 360.

Game and Guitar is about $100. There are a few different guitar versions.

You may find used ones but the 360 game was released pretty recently so it isn't likely. That and many will be keeping the guitar for GHIII.

Also, while the original folks are not making GHIII it's pretty much thought that they have been highly cooperative in giving the new guys code etc. Atleast from one thing I read way back when.

Both Rock Band and GHIII promise to be great games. Not sure what I'm going to do with Halo3, Mass Effect, GTA, FIFA, NHL08, Rock Band and GHIII all coming out before the end of the year. Not to mention Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii.

With Rock Band you can go online and form a band. It seems to be the way to go.

It's pulished by EA (is it?). It's produced by Harmonix.... the company that produced GH1 and GH2.

GH3 is NOT being produced by the people that produced GH1 and GH2.

That being said, I am expecting GH3 to be good too, but I'd be shocked if it was better than the new project being made by the premier rythm/music game developers in the world.

So far, the known track list of Rock Band looks like this-

The Who - "Won't Get Fooled Again"
Mountain - "Mississippi Queen"*
David Bowie - "Suffragette City"
Black Sabbath - "Paranoid"*
Blue Oyster Cult - "Don't Fear the Reaper"
The Ramones - "Rockaway Beach"
Rush - "Tom Sawyer"*
Bon Jovi - "Wanted Dead or Alive"
Nirvana - "In Bloom"
Stone Temple Pilots - "Vaseline"
Weezer - "Say It Ain't So"
Foo Fighters - "Learn to Fly"
The Hives - "Main Offender"
The Strokes - "Reptilia"
Queens of the Stone Age - "Go With the Flow"
Metallica - "Enter Sandman"

As per wikipedia... the GH3 Song List:

On May 23, 2007, Activision announced 11 songs that will appear in the game. IGN revealed two more tracks on May 31.[12] A trailer for the game revealed two more tracks on July 9.[1] The list includes both cover songs (indicated by the phrase "as made famous by") and master tracks, featuring performances by the song's original artist.[17]
bold denotes song performed by the original artist (all other songs are covers) In addition, bands confirmed to be contributing to the game include:Concerning other bands, Huang also stated in an interview, "We've got a lot of songs and artists still that we would love to have. In particular, we've been trying to get Metallica, AC/DC, and Led Zeppelin. So hopefully sometime in the near future, my wish and everybody's wish will come true and we can get some of their music in the game."[25]
The Living Colour track, "Cult of Personality" was rerecorded (with a new guitar solo) by the band after the master track could not be located.[26]

anyone know if there will be an adapter or if there is one that can take a guitar from one system to another - e.g. right now I have guitar hero 2 for my PS2 - I have the red wired guitar and the white wireless one from red octane, I also own a Wii... so will I be able to buy the GH3 for the wii and then use an adapter to reuse my guitars??

I think I'll stick to the real guitars I already have instead of buying either of these.

Seems to me more fulfilling.
