impeachment is probably the only way that the Americans can save face, as voting for one of the worst presidents in US history for a second term has to be one of the dumbest things i've ever seen

I think it's arguable that he was even elected once, let alone twice.

"We'll win Florida, Guaranteed!!!"
I'm one who thinks 2000 was a sham--Gore won that election, IMO, and the fact that it was stolen will go down in history as the Great Train Robbery of the 21st century.
But in 2004, Bush won fair and square. Americans have only themselves to blame for this mess.
I don't believe he fairly won the '04 election either, but it's neither here nor there as I more or less agree with you that they have themselves to blame, though they were duped.
There were irregularities in Ohio for sure. But Kerry lost the popular vote, and I rather doubt that vote-rigging across the nation could account for 3 million votes. Ohio was kind of a cluster-you-know-what, but in my view part of the problem there was probably incompetence rather than malfeasance.
With that said, that article is an interesting read--it describes widespread problems that I had never even heard about. What astonishes me is that the U.S has no independent body to run elections, which I would have thought would be a vital component of any democracy.
Forget Ohio and Florida. Americans should be ashamed that it was even that close.
Pelosi won't bother with impeachment. The Democrats are going to sit back and watch the Republicans continue to self-destruct. They could run on a ticket of Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie and still win. They don't even need any policies - "We are not Republican" is enough for a landslide.
Wow... great contribution, you're a credit to your cause.
Same kind of contribution as the "one of the worst in history, shame on Americans, etc." kind of contribution.
Is G.Bush a great politician? He is not. Is he better than Gore/Kerry/H.Clinton etc.? By a country mile.
French voters rejected a left wing lunatic S.Royal (French H.Clinton), hopefully American voters will again reject left wing lunatics like the 3 mentioned above.

But it seems your neo-con idols have created a real mess of things and have initiated a power grab of historic proportions.
From where you sit on the spectrum EVERYTHING may look left wing, but that does not make them "lunatics".

It is a shame that Bush and what’s left of his supporters are still too cowardly to admit their mistakes. “Staying the course” is just a weak cop out. Most conservatives realize this now, and want to see changes in policy. Full credit for doing so.
The 25% of Americans who continue to support Bush are the same ones that still think 9/11 was connected to Iraq, and that the earth is 6000 years old. Most of them will never see what is actually going on. You can fight ignorance, but not willfull blindness.
Gore is fighting global warming. Kerry won a bronze star in Vietnam. Hillary Clinton wants the 80 million Americans without healthcare to have some. On his best day, what does Bush have to offer as a comparable to any of those things?
You are correct in that he isn’t one of the worst presidents in history. He is the worst. Nobody has damaged America more, at home or abroad.
The only shame Americans should feel is for giving in to fear, and letting that fear put their sense of reason to sleep for 6 years.
The good news? 75% are awake now.
Change is coming.

I shudder every time I hear somebody who quotes this poll, as the question was poorly worded IMHO. From what I have heard, the question was "do you believe that Iraq played a part in the 9/11 attacks."- or words to that effect.

So you pride yourself in sinking to that level? Wierd.

Care to point out why? I mean, I know its dreadfully obvious to you, but a few reasons might stimulate some debate.

He took 53% of the vote while Royal got 47%... not exactly a definitive/decisive shift of the nation's ideology.
