I bought this camera around Christmas time and used it a handful of times. I've upgraded to a digital SLR.

It is 6 megapixel, 12 x optical zoom with the option to increase your optical zoom to 16.5 by lowering quality to 3 megapixels.

Just want to add - it is a FANTASTIC camera for anyone looking for a great smallish camera with a ton of zoom.

Panasonic has an awesome Image Stabilizer in it as well!

I use the FZ-30 (step up) and this is a pic I took with 18x zoom from the nosebleeds in Oakland:

I'll also toss in my two cents. The Panasonic Lumix line are all great cameras. I have both the predecessor(FZ-1) and the follow up (FZ-50) and have never had any problems with either of them. The lenses are made by Leica, one of the best names in the business.
