White Stripes show tonight
Any other CPers going?
I'm pumped about this show, I've been wanting to see them in concert for some time as I have heard such great things about their live set. I can only imagine how good Jack White is live. Really hope they play Ball and Biscuit.
What a great week for shows, Roger Waters last Saturday, White Stripes tonight. Two completely different concert experiences, but both equally as awesome (I'm hoping).

I got free tickets from work.
I'm not a huge fan or anything, but I hear they put on a good show, and my sister really likes them, so I figured I'd take her.

I'll be there. Oddly enough, my favorite song is their cover of the old Dylan tune "one more cup of coffee", which I doubt they will play, but one can always hope... Look for the tall guy in the black "Fat Tuesday" t-shirt and the bad hair.

Some of the stuff I can remember:
Your Pretty Good Looking For a Girl
Hello Operator
Now Mary
I Think I Smell a Rat
Hotel Yorba
Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground
There was other stuff.
Not a bad show. Saddledome is a brutal place for sound. I love the raw energy Jack and ex-wife Meg throw out. If you went expecting to hear albums re-created it may have been a disappointment.
One of my favorite songs was when Meg sang In The Cold, Cold Night.

I thought it was a pretty decent show, they pulled off a good, energetic set. I really liked when Meg sang.
The Saddledome just didn't seem like the right kind of place for that show though, I mean I know they needed somewhere to hold a large crowd, but a smaller, more intimate venue would have been neat.
Oh well, either way it was a good time.

I thought it was a great show... Jack had all the stage presence of a Monster of Rock I hoped he would.
But I agree, the saddledome really isn't the right venue for them. A necessary evil I suppose but it really would have been fantastic to see them in a smaller hall. Even in the Corral I think it would have been an improvement... Can you imagine how loud he could have gotten that place?
Even still, though, they rocked it, hard. The obvious highlight for me was Ball And Biscuit - I am continuously amazed at the amount of noise Jack White can wring out of a single guitar... But running a close second was You're Pretty Good Looking (For A Girl), couldn't believe he actually played that one. I also thought it was kind a cool move for him to just sit in the back and let Meg enjoy her moment during Cold, Cold Night.. I think for most of the song he was facing the back of the stage. I loved the simplicity of it all, he still plugs guitar into amp with a patch cord; he still makes adjustments to his amps manually; he'll stand up on the stage and re-tune or de-tune his guitar himself; there is no crazy laser show, just spotlights, a disco ball, sharp colours, and music. LOUD music.
A definite pleasure to see our generation's blues guitar virtuoso live and in the flesh.

without a doubt one of th best shows ive ever seen.
that was a jimmy page like performance by jack white.
the big red background with their shadows projected was amazing.
highlights for me were In the cold cold night and a martyr for my love for you and my doorbell.
definately in my top 5 best ever shows.

I really enjoyed it from the floor. I'm a pretty big Stripes fan, but I could see someone not enjoying the show if they weren't a fan.
Very energetic, and thought it was a great crowd (on the floor, at least). I love how it was mostly improvised. This is one man playing his rock his way, without being concerned about choreography and visuals. I thought Meg was great on In the Cold Cold Night, though my buddies noticed that she got out of tune. I didn't..
My favs were Cannon, My Doorbell, Black Math was fierce. The new song You Don't Know What Love Is was great as well. Ball and a Biscuit. Not really any low points. I did want to hear Bone Broke from their new album, but oh well oh well.

That was an awesome show. One of the better shows I've seen in Calgary, specially in a while. With a crowd of 7500 a smaller venue would have been better but the energy behind that performance made up for it. Jack's stage prescence had improved since the last time I saw them live in Vancouver. Everybody always talks about Jack's guitar skills but one thing that barely ever gets mentioned is his voice. Like Dylan, Jack is an unconventional singer who puts a lot of passion behind the words he's singing. Great set, great show.

One that stood out to me was "Party of Special Things to Do," which isn't on any of their albums, I think it's a B-side.
Also, "Astro," and "Little Bird."
and I'm pretty sure they didn't play "Now Mary," because that definitely would have been a highlight for me.

Saw them in Saskatoon last night, and it was honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen. Jack White is amazing on the guitar, and has great energy on the stage. Mag was awesome as well, effortless on the drums and sang a song as well. Earlier in the day we were tipped off that they were playing in a bowling alley in the city and they played 3 songs for about 100 ppl. Phenomenal live performers.
