Anyone seen any of these yet? Absolutely AMAZING. Just fantastic work, and I can't even begin to think how hard some of these shots must have been to get. They were featured on Oprah a few times in the last month or so (the GF knows I hate her, but she did tell me to tune in for this.. so Oprah is good for 1 thing..)
Anyway, here is a shot or two from the actual documentary... There are at least 11 full episodes that I know of, and am about to watch the 2nd one, about Mountains and such.. First one was called "From pole to pole" or something.. again, just amazing.
I can honestly say, only the flames videos gives me goosebumps like this trailer did.
Some footage:
This one is narrated by someone different, but the video is the same as the BBC.

Does anyone know when these are on?
I couldn't find anything on the Canadian Discovery channel website.
Same here. Everytime I tune in maybe to see these, it turns out to be something else. I saw Oprah about a week ago where she showed the footage. Amazing stuff. My fave was the ant infected with a spore and the other ants in the colony carried it away to die. Amazing footage. How can we see it?
the whole series is available on torrent sites for those who use them and can't get it any other way. i'm sure mods would frown on any more direct info so that's all i'll say
Man, my friend in London told me that I'd love this series, he's right.
It's not on Discovery. I saw one episode on channel 15 about 4 weeks ago (the arctic/antarctic episode).
I'm on the verge of getting someone to send it to me from the UK because I haven't been able to catch the show since.
The baboons wading in the water is the funniest thing I've seen in a while.
Its a terrific series - and hits home the point about the fragility of the planet without being preachy.

Planet Earth and Blue Planet are two of the most amazing shows ever. I have All the episodes on DVD and still watch them when i get bored. David Attenborough just has the perfect voice to narrate. Infact all the nature shows he has ever presented are top notch. The BBC really are the best in the business at those kind of shows. It takes 3-5 years to make each series. Do you watch the Diaries part at the end aswell, so interesting to see how long it takes and the patience required to get those shots. One guy spent 38 days in a hive in the middle of Sumatra to film a bird of paradise's matig dance that lasted for about 5 seconds before the female blew him off. Then there was the crew who filmed lions attacking elephants in the pitch black drakness withstarving lions all around their stationary jeep. Just awesome.
I have decided to use BBC Planet Earth in my social studies class. I am however in need of some help. Thanks James for trying to hook me up with it, it was my fault I wasn't able to get them from you. I have a friend mailing them to me as we speak but I do appreciate what you tried to do for me.
QUESTION: Does anyone know where I can get a detailed synopsis from each episode or even discussion questions of some kind? Anything related to teaching this stuff would be amazing! I have been searching for a synopsis but I haven't been able to locate a good one. ANy help would be appreciated.

What kind of discussion are you after? Just talking about the nice animals or people opinions on climate change and global warming and mans (alleged) destruction of our planet? If its the latter then the BBC has some good pages with veiwers opinions.
