On Wednesday night at hockey I folded my leg up beside me so my heel met my hip. It was like when Rob Niedermayer became the human pretzel in Long Island in 2000. Those of you who remember the injury clip are probably wincing right now.

After getting checked out today I was told that I tore my ACL but they couldn't perform a a complete examination because my knee hurt too much.

I have to follow up on Monday to see if I'm going to need surgery. If I do, I could be waiting months just to get it done and then another 6 weeks before I can even skate again.

Anyone have any tips on staying "up" while I recover?

Have your significant other do new and exciting things for you, spice up the love life a little. You might be getting bored with the same ol' same ol'.

That sucks, dude. Had my ACL reconstructed in '92. It's not a fun rehab, but all this time later and the big staple they put in there is still holding it all together. I'm still skating, I bike all the time I can run, no limitations. You'll be even better off as the surgeries are better now I hear. Just do as much physio as possible and take your time coming back. Get it strong as hell before you go hardcore back into the sports.

edited because I can't spell

We're actually pretty satisfied with the Jumbalaya that is our sex life. The crappy thing is that we can't even really do that right now because of my knee. Bumpy roads in the car are too much for my knee so bouncy beds would probably leave me screaming uncle.

Wow dude. That sucks. Sorry to hear. I have an ongoing knee problem so I can appreciate some of what you are going through. Keep your eye on the end goal of having a fully recovered knee and don't rush back.

I know what your going through.

I got my surgery done and im just doing rehab. I thought I be gone for a month but im out early.

It wasnt a real big tear in my ACL it was a minor tear.

Just gotta ride the storm out and after its all done your knee will thank you for it.

I dislike hospital food very much that the thing i hate most about the whole stay

I completley severed my ACL, and had reconstructive surgery last December (the day we beat won in OT in Philly too).

Physio is key, you will really want to rebuild your surrounding muscles.
