It's all over

The Good:
Avoids weeks of uncertainty
Should be good for Canadian economy and $CDN

The Bad:
Just reinforces Bush's belief that he was sent by God to defeat the Axis of Evil ™: Saddam Hussein, Homosexuals and the English Language

As much as I hate the outcome, this was the right thing for Kerry to do.

Good for Kerry ... a classy thing to do. The right thing to do.

Anyone think Gore would have done this at this point? I can't see it.

Kerry isn't a bad guy ... never had a problem with him. I wish this whole election would have been clear of Guard Duty and Vietnam record scandals.

Classy move by Kerry. Although I am a Bush supporter, I was kind of hoping Kerry would win since he is strongly for stem cell research and that directly affects me

Lol, considering Gore's experience, would you blame him? There are a lot of people out there who believe that if Gore had stuck to his guns, he'd be president.

I'd rather be a classless President than a classy loser (what a coincidence! It's that way now!).

It was mathematically impossible for Kerry to win Ohio, being over 100,000 behind.

Florida ended up with a difference of less than 600 votes, and it was always extremely tight.

Apples and Oranges.

Gore only lost Florida by a few hundred votes, and won the popular vote.....he had a legitimate change at squeaking in, so I can see why he hung on.

Kerry, on the other hand, was losing the popular vote by 3 million, and was considerably behind in Ohio, the one big swing state this year. It was a much clearer outcome this time around.

I agree ... Florida was a hotter issue.

I'm speaking more to personalities, and that I could see Gore in the same situation as Kerry this morning not conceding. Clearly, nothing to back that up, just my take on his character.

Let the healing begin? It will be a tenuous period for the country. Kerry could go a long way to diffusing things, although there is still a massive number of Bush-haters out there that will not get behind the President. It will be a massive challenge to see if Bush can be the uniter he said he was in 2000 or continue to be the divider he has proven to be from 2001 on. I think John Stewart said it best last night, "Its just sad".

I've been thinking about this a lot from last night, and I can only come to the conclusion that the term popular vote is a misnomer in this case.

It wasn't that Bush was more popular. Its that Kerry just did not come across as a strong viable candidate.

His generalities about his plans did not inspire confidence. His past records in the senate absolutely killed him.

Most American's wanted a change, you could feel it and taste it. Kerry didn't bring enough to the table strength wise to make a change.
