Good Steak Restaurant?
I posted in the restaurant thread but nobody replied. It's my dad's birthday tonight and I'm looking for a good restaurant to take him to. Something not as generic as the keg but still affordable?
Any good places you guys can think of?

I guess Caesars is out then?
I always enjoy Smuggler's prime rib...
Otherwise the Keg is a good bet - go to the one downtown or on 36st - they do a better job than the one on MacLeod... I am impartial for the one off of 16th Ave.

I didnt like Hy's - their steak sauce was disgusting too...
But the point is moot - Hys is currently a huge dig site...

I may end up sticking to the Keg or Montana's or something.
It doesn't neccessarily have to be steak, seafood would be good too, but I'm restaurant ignorant enough that can't think of anything besides Red Lobster. It's not that I don't fancy a fancy restaurant (River Cafe was amazing), but my dad's into simple food and I'm into saving money on account of unemployment.

Palomas is really good for steaks. It's tucked away in the Northland Mall Proffesional building.

Which is why I didn't close this thread.
My post was intended to give info; as opposed to calling a fata.

The Catch for seafood. It's pricey too, though.
Stay away from chains!

Wow, I think I might remember that place from my childhood when my mom used to work in the Royal Bank tucked into that building. Is it actually good? There are always these wierd small neighbourhood type restaurants that you never think about but they seem to be there for years and years in the corners.

Royal Bank has moved now but Palomas is still there. The food has been good there for years. Pizza Spot that is located on the other side of the same building (facing crowchild) has awesome pizza as well.

Caesars-I had a really good steak there. Definitely on the pricey side. About $30 and up for a steak.
Cattle Baron-Decent steak for a fair price.
Bang for your buck I would say Cattle Baron or the Keg. The other steak houses are good, but it's debatable as to whether or not it's worth your money.

Mother Tuckers is at 345 10th Ave. S.W. , trust me you'll like it, and only have to pay for one meal, as long as his birthdate is actually the day you are going.

Try Halo on Macleod and Canyon Meadows (I think it used to be a brew pub). My old man is a bit of a steak snob (purebred Angus breeeder) and he has mentioned a few times that it's the best steak in the city. I've eaten there, and the seafood was excellent. The prices are pretty reasonable as well.
I think it's a club at night though, so you might want to try it before 9PM (if you go)
