Leafs move out a couple vets
The Leafs have dealt a pair of vets out west in return for some improvement in our draft position for this year.
The first deal sends Patrice Brisebois and a 4th round pick to Colorado for a 2nd round pick (50th overall)...
The second sends Jarkko Ruutu and the 46th overall pick to Nashville for OK Tollefsen and the 26th overall pick.
Both of these guys contributed to our 3rd/4th lines last year but it looks like we have some younger players who can fill the spots this year. We now have 5 picks in the first 2 rounds. We're willing to package any of them to move up, or deal any of them for cap as long as it's enough cash to actually help.
The Leafs are now focused on improving the defense a little. We have a pretty big dip in talent after Redden so we'd like to find a solid #2 defenseman. We're willing to move a forward(possibly Datsyuk, Langkow, or Ryder) or put a package together.
