Job Advice
Here's my situation
I have been offered a job with company B and training would start tomorrow until the end of next week.
I have a scheduled interview with company A (my first choice) for next week that will conflict with Job B's training.
I can't get out of training that day...already asked
my 2 choices
1)stick with job B training and try to reschedule the interview with job A at a better time
2)screw job B, go to interview with A and run the risk of getting neither
note:the interview with A is with a guy from out of town, so trying to reschedule could be tough and may throw him off about me in general
what should I do?

Tell job "B" that you have to give two weeks' notice to your current employer. You can start June 18th.

Can't. They already know I'm unemployed and new to this city. I've been through the whole interview process and accepted their offer, so they know my work/life situation pretty well.

Is Job A really a much better job than B?

simple, call in sick with company b on the day of the interview. make a semi-serious story up like you had to take your mother to the hospital or something, one where they wouldn't want to ask too many questions

Be honest. Tell job 'B' that you are not going to be able to make the training because you have an interview with job 'A' that you applied to at the same time as job 'B' (if that is the case). Let them know that you were interested in both positions and that job 'A' just didn't get back to you as soon as 'B'. Either they like your honesty or they'll be upset that you accepted their job while still tendering other offers. At least you won't have to stress about it and there are probably jobs 'C' through 'ZZZZZ' that would be interested if those two don't work out.

Doctor's appointment... most employers don't need a doctor's note.
Make sure you let them know that you're getting something 'lanced'. I doubt they'll ask questions.

Ya, that is some good advise. Way to start off a new job.
Good lord.

I then agree with the call in sick excuse.
If they ask, tell them you'll spare them the details, but it rhymes with "Explosive glad-to-see-ya."

1)stick with job B training and try to reschedule the interview with job A at a better time
This is far and away your best choice. Don't start off a new employer/employee relationship with a lie. if you can't reschedule the interview you need to decide of losing Job B is worth the possibility of getting Job A.
Job B has committed to you and you have committed to being there at the training. Live up to your commitment.

I would risk getting a job of my choice, than being stuck doing a job that wasn’t my first choice…of course you need to weight the disparity between the two jobs, if it isn’t much perhaps the risk isn’t worth it

I would say tell the guy from Job A exactly why you have to reschedule.
Telling Job B you can't make it because you have to go interview with someone else is a good way to get shown the door.
However, telling Job A that you have to reschdule the interview because you made a commitment to another potential employer (make sure to be a little ambiguous about this being training for a job you've already accepted) will not sound nearly as bad. Hell they may even like the fact that you are honest and are following through with a previous commitment.

Gotta agree with BBS. Honesty is the best policy, especially when it comes to employment.

Great advice so far. Thank you all!
a couple responses:
-I already tried the doctor thing and there's no way I can miss that day of training. It's either I go or I'm canned. Calling in sick will get me canned as well.
-Job B offered me the job 2 days ago, and I already asked them to give me the last 2 days to decide between them and another offer at job C. I don't want to ask for that again, especially during training. They won't do that.
The only way I can make my current interview with job A is to ditch B, they won't allow me the time.
-Job A is a lot better then job B. I don't want to do anything to mess up my chances with job A. That's why I'm hesitant to even ask about rescheduling.
The guy doing the interview may only be in town for that 1 day, and he may be booked up the rest of the day. I want him to feel that I'm fully commited to and interested in the position and I'm worried asking for another time doesn't show that.

I think he'll understand that you really want the job, but that you've got to make sure you're not missing out on both. Asking isn't going to hurt, and if he says he can't reschdule, you still have the option to ditch the other job.

BBS has got it right. Be upfront with Company A, and tell him you need to decide this week. If he thinks you're "the guy" he'll do a phone interview and at minimum give you a clear indication if he wants you. If after the phone interview he gives you buying signals you can decide or schedule the face to face during your lunch break or early/late in the day next week. If he blows you off, then it wasn't meant to be and you've got job B.

I'm with Prottotype. Pull a sick day and get a doctors note.

Let's say you bail on job "B", and go to the interview for Job "A". and you do not get Job "A". There will not be a Job "B" waiting for you. I'd stay with Job "B" and try at a later date for Job "A"
