Bush vows to pursue more Iran sanctions
http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2007/0...n.html?ref=rss
The United States will work with allies to strengthen sanctions against Iran following a UN nuclear watchdog's report that said Tehran is expanding its uranium enrichment program, U.S. President George W. Bush said Thursday.
....
Bush's comments come a day after a report by the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency accused Iran of defying a UN Security Council deadline to suspend its nuclear program and blocking the agency's efforts to monitor its enrichment activities.
....
During a rally address to supporters in the Iranian town of Isfahan on Thursday, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated his vow to continue the program for what he said were peaceful purposes.
"With God's help the path to completely enjoying all nuclear capacity is near its end and we are close to the peak," Reuters news agency reported Ahmadinejad as saying.
"The Iranian nation today has industrial nuclear technology and … it will never retreat even one step from this path."
IAEA chief Mohamed El-Baradei said Thursday he agrees with CIA estimates that Iran is three to eight years away from being able to make nuclear weapons.
