Has anyone done this before. I was looking at the atco gas job postings website and saw that they are hiring right now. I have heard that they pay quite well for what the job is. Does anyone here know what they pay???

....and on an off topic note, I just noticed I have a blue square for skill, which I assume is a bad thing. Does anyone know how to find out exactly how one got a negative skill mark?

My dad did it for his summer job in University. In Windsor. In 1969. Sorry, not much help. Why not just apply, get an interview and find out how much they pay at the interview?

That's probably what I will do. I was just hpoing someone could tell me before hand, so that if the wage isn't what I'm looking for, I could elimate the whole interview process, which I am not very fond of.

I heard it actually pays quite well considering. Somewhere in the $18-20 an hour range. Don't quote me on that but a friend of mine who was looking for a summer job told me that.

I know a guy doing it and I think he was getting something like $18 an hour. I also think he gets off early all the time because he doesn't move at the expected snail's pace.

With meter readers, every day you have a section of meters to read. If you can read all your meters in 4 to 5 hours, then you are done for the day. Not sure if you get paid for the full 8 hours, I imagine you would.

You do realize that if you are young, you should be going to every interview possible, even if you have no intention of taking the job, just to sharpen your skills, right?

I definitly realize that, however I'm currently in school full time and am working very long hours, so I don't really have the time to just throw myself into many interviews for the experience.

Yeah totally agree Frank. I was fortunate enough to get a job right out of university this January, but I've been going to interviews pretty much every other week since then just to practice my interviewing skills.

What's the worst that can happen? If you don't get an offer, you reflect on the interview and try and figure out what went wrong. If you get an offer, you take a look and see if it's worth leaving.

I am continually floored by the number of people who cannot give a good interview. It really is a skill.

Yup, have to agree. I would expand that to just basic job search skills as well - resume, interview, cover letter, etc. Its truly astounding to me (I'm not talking top of the class, I'm just talking a grasp of the basics at an ok level).

Hmm probably because I'm a people person, I've always been naturally good at interviews, maybe that's why. Every interview I have ever gone to I got a call back..
