Yup. The lowest common denominator is pretty low these days.

The Penn & Teller show is hilarious I love watching debunking shows. Although Penn and Tellar aren't always the most fair and definitely have a bias. But it's still entertaining. I've seen this episode before and I wasn't really that impressed with this particular segment. Just because I wouldn't know what dihydrogen Monoxide is either. It honestly sounds like one of the terrible chemicals at first, obviously once they tell you and you think about it the name makes sense. But for us bad chemistry students it's not as easy. But that doesn't excuse the people that don't even ask what it is.

But it does go to show that people will sign anything put in front of them. I recall seeing a video not too long ago where a kid at supposedly the one of the highest achieving academic private schools in the country got the girls there to sign a petition to end womens suffrage. For those of you that don't know suffrage is the right to vote.

I wouldn't know what dihydrogen Monoxide is either, it sounds bad as carbon Monoxide is bad. I like Burninator am not a chemist, I avoided the class whenever possible.

That said, when told that styrofoam companies, and neuclear companies use it, I'd ask who else does? Then start asking about companies that were posted around the rally. I'd also ask if the chemical has a laymen's name.

I used to have a link in my signature that was a gif flashing about all the "bad uses" of Dihydrogen Monoxide. About once a month I would have somebody PM me wanting info about how they could help with the cause.
