Default Baby "Bubba" gets a gun permit...

Sigh...sometimes you just have to wonder about parents and grand parents...

Quote:
"Bubba" Ludwig can't walk, talk or open the refrigerator door -- but he does have his very own Illinois gun permit.
Quote:
Ludwig, 30, of Chicago, applied for the card after his own father bought Bubba a 12-gauge Beretta shotgun as a gift. The weapon will probably be kept at Ludwig's father's house until the boy is at least 14.

How do you get Bubba as a nickname when you're a baby? Is Bubba short for Howard...?

I don't know, but am the only one who finds that grandpa buying this as a gift is a little, odd shall we say? (I just noticed that ah123 pointed this out as well).

Oh the whole license situation is so odd that I really don't have anything to say about it. But the fact that they call the 10 month old bubba is less odd and I can actually think of a response.

I wonder why the grandfather thought a shotgun was appropriate for a newborn?

And to look at the picture, they don't look like rednecks... but then, grandpa isn't in the picture. But yeah. Wow. I guess with a name like Bubba, gramps thought the kid would need a shotgun when he's older...

I know... He should have gone with one of those mini pistols. At least the kid would be able to hold the thing.

"Bubba" is a southern term of affection, meaning the same thing as "junior". As opposed to having Billy Bob Jimmy Joe Ray Jr., they will legally name him accordingly, and just call him Bubba. One of the women where I work got a glock 9mm as a baby shower gift, so this isn't the first time I've heard of such nonsense.

Ha, thats what I was thinking too. I find it odd that there isnt an age restriction on getting a gun permit. If you arent old enough to purchase a gun, then you shouldnt be old enough to have a gun permit. ie. If you arent old enough to drive a car, you arent old enough to have a driver's license.

Locke.
