5 years ago this week....
Just realized it has been 5 years to the week (IIRC, and thats never a for sure any more) since Cameron, Dayel and myself sat down at our collective computers and started what now has become the CPHL.
It was endless hours in the beginning....literaly hundreds each, to get things off the ground and moving. It was not with a lot of help from many others as well. A big thanks to Scottie and Darcy for allowing us use of this server and the Cal Puck name for starters. Many others assisted in the technical side of things that Cam and Dayel so deftly put together.
Just reminiscing a bit I guess....so much has happened since the idea was hatched and the game itself was born.
I hope everyone still has fun with it and the improvements that have been added over the years. It was a labor of love from the get go, and I hope that feeling is still inherent today.

Thanks to you and the other founders. I'm continually amazed at the sophistication of this league and the committment required of its commissioners.

Yup, definitely much gratitude to the fellas who started it all and also to the commisioners for putting in their countless hours not only for the technical things, but also for thinking up ways to improve an already awesome league.

Incidentally, how many of the original GMs are still with us? Also, when the CPHL was founded, was there a dispersal draft or did the original GMs adopt the current NHL rosters?

we were each given rosters consisting of, I believe 3 forwards lines, 4 or 5 d and 2 goalies, and 5 draft picks in the 2002 draft. everyone else , players and prospects, were acquired via waves of free agency frenzy
original Sabres (in addition to Ruslan Fedotenko) included (I think) Belfour and Mark Denis, Lidstrom, Brewer, Kenny Jonsson, Pavel Trnka, Robert Lang, Andrei Nikolishin, Brad May, CPHL allstar Grant Marshall, Wade Belak, Darren McCarty
