Default Second Life

The question was asked back in the fall, but since then Second Life has seen substantial growth. So, I again pose the question. Anybody here addicted to Second Life?

I've been checking it out and I can certainly see how people get addicted to it because when I play I can't stop, but I have a hard time finding a point to it all.

Do you need to have a paid membership to truly appreciate the game? Yes it makes it easier to earn money but how much better would I like Second Life if I had a paid membership?

I've checked that game/site out, but I am hesitant to get into it for that very reason. WoW and Wikipedia already suck my life away too much...

Kind of like the sims, you play another character with an insane amount of customization options which you can pretty much do whatever you want it.

I looked at it like 3 years ago, so I'm not sure how much has changed, but there were a lot of freaks in the game. A friend of mine who played it took me to a brothel and a gothic dance club. Yeah, it's a little weird. It was almost like living in a virtual city I guess.

Of course the fun begins when you get an illegally made item (in this case a gun), which doesn't kill characters, but rather blasts them across the screen when you shoot them. I blasted one guy about 5 miles away, but if they report you, you get banned. You can script items yourself to get them to do crazy things, which adds to the customization flavor of the game and lets the possibilities be almost endless.

Of course, that game really wasn't for me.

Here is one:

Basically it's a game for furries and perverts, and people who want to capitalize on them

Redundant in only that most furries are perverts, but as well, not all perverts are furries...like those guys who like dressing up in diapers and being coddled by 'mommy' figures

Been on it for a month. I actually own a mall in SL that I'm trying to rent out heh. I'm on it almost everyday, but generally not more than an hour. Basically a glorified chat room for most, but I'm trying my hand at making a small profit on it heh.
