Martini Help
I'm thinking about having a pre-summer martini party where people bring the fixings for their favs and we have tastings. Any ideas?
A few of my favs are:
1. Traditional with gin (lots and lots of gin)
2. Candy Apple (2/3 Green Apple Sourpuss and 1/2 Butter Ripple Schnapp's)
3. Pomegranate (Pomegranate and Vodka)
Cheers!!!

Here's a few more:
Traditional Dry Martini
2oz Gin or Vodka
0.25oz Dry Vermouth
Garnish with a tail onion or green olive
Sapphire Martini
2oz Bombay Sapphire Gin
0.5oz Blue Curacao
Splash of Dry Vermouth
Garnish with a cherry
Grasshopper
1.5oz Creme de Cacao
1.5oz Creme de Menthe
The fun thing about martini parties is being creative. I'd suggest buying the following supplies (money permitting) before the party, and then mixing and matching as you like:
Gin
Vodka
Rum
Vermouth
Cointreau
Triple Sec
Blue Curacao
Peach Schnapps
Creme de Menthe
Creme de Cacao
Melon Liqueur
Orange Juice
Cranberry Juice
Lemons
Limes
Olives
Cherries
Generally, you want to use a larger quantity of one of the stronger liquors as the base (gin, vodka, or rum) and then add smaller amounts of the more fruitier drinks.

I need to chime in on this because this is something that really bugs me.
Just because you put a tail into a martini glass does not make it a martini.
If I pour a rye and coke into a pint glass it doesn't become beer, it's still a rye and coke.
Don't get me wrong, I've gone for fauxtinis from time to time, and some of them are really good, but they aren't martinis.

Thank you Shantz. This drives me crazy too. Let a martini be a martini and put this stuff in a highball glass where it belongs. Ahh.. remember when a martini didn't come with creme de menthe or cranberry juice?

Lychee Martinis are tasty. Made with Soho liquer, and vodka. Some places will even throw in a fresh lychee.

But if you put the following:
Traditional Dry Martini
2oz Gin or Vodka
0.25oz Dry Vermouth
Garnish with a tail onion or green olive
in a plastic beer cup, do you still have a martini?
I think martinis are all about the nifty looking glasses. Most people into them fauxtinis probably don't even like the taste of booze.

0.5 oz Vermouth
0.5 oz Olive Juice
2.0 oz Gin
Shake with ice and pour over perferred number of olives.
The vermouth is standard, but the better olives and gin you use, the better this martini is.

Classic video. LOL.
And guys, if you are paying attention here, the ladies like Chambord Royales. True martinis taste like gasoline for many people.
