QMJHL Playoffs
I know there aren't many QMJHL fans on this site, naturally due to location of Calgary being in the west. However, thought you might want to keep up with how the playoff tree the junior league is doing:

Now granted I have only seen them play once, but....I was really unimpressed by Quebec. Big guys, but pretty blaise. Esposito was especially disappointing.
The Moncton - Halifax series is turning into a great one. Don't know what the games have been like in Moncton, but they have been pretty wild here in Halifax...high scoring, fighting, chippy play and a lot of taunting for good measure. Saw the game last night, halifax won something like 9 - 6. Moncton spent 3/4 of the game in the penalty box, of which they were not happy with (they got a bench minor before the 2nd period had even started in voicing their displeasure!). Also, halifax's goalie last night - Yettman - was HIDEOUS. He let in 6-7 goals on something like 20 - 25 shots. Bad, bad bad bad. And about 3 - 4 of those goals I could have likely stopped. He was bad, bad bad.

Quebec by definition is the underdog in their series, I haven't seen much Q league hockey this year. Mostly the horrible Cape Breton @ Halifax games. For some reason Cape Breton never brought their A, B, or C game to the Metro Centre, and Halifax isn't that good of a team. As RedHot25 pointed out when Yettman is bad, he's bad bad bad bad.
I didn't catch the game last night on Eastlink, however the Cape Breton-St. John's game has had some rough stuff. There was an UGLY spear on James Sheppard in game 1, Oskars Bartulis recieved a nasty hit from behind which landed the Fog Devil's top scorer Ryan Graham a 2 game suspention (down 2-0 already, his year could be over), plus Bourdon has been the unwarrently attacked.
Unfortunately the games in St. John's are only being audio broadcast. For a league that was pretty boring during the regular season the playoffs are shaping up to be interesting.
Shawinigan had leads in both their games against Lewiston, the Bathrust-PEI series looks to be a classic, PEI battled back from a 4-0 deficit to win their last game.

Eagles sweep the Fog Devils tonight.
Lewiston is trailing Shawinigan with under 10 to go in the third, however that game's not over yet. If Lewiston wins that's the second sweep of the playoffs.
Bathurst takes a commanding 3-1 series lead over the Rocket, and will probably play Cape Breton in Round 2 if the Mooseheads upset the Wildcat, which again is very possible.
Moose/Wildcat are off tonight, their series is going 1-1-1-1-1-1-1
Drummondville's leading Quebec, if they win the series is 3-1
Rouyn-Noranda's leading Gatineau, winner of that game makes the series 2-1
A Baie-Comeau victory (they're leading) would give them a 3-1 edge over Victoriaville.
Interesting night in the Q so far
I'll update in the morning with final results
BUT
Eagles Sweep!!!

Actually they played tonight, 5-0 Moose!
The series is now 1-1-1-2 (that's 3-2 Halifax). Come on, let the Herd win it this Friday.
Go Mooseheads!

Wow, good for the Moose! Where was this team in the regular season? They seem to have had a fire lit under their.... Surprising, though...I really thought that Moncton would bounce back after the game in Halifax. Shows what I know.
Anyways, here's hoping for a win on friday as I will be there!

From what I understand Moncton really gutted their team, and played above their heads all season. Now they're coming back to earth in a nasty way.
I hope that Halifax gives Lewiston a go, take them 7 and that Cape Breton makes light work of the Titan (or possibly PEI)
Also I was refering to the location of where the games were being played
Game 1: Moncton Coliseum
Game 2: Halifax Metro Centre
Game 3: Moncton Coliseum
Game 4: Halifax Metro Centre
Game 5: Moncton Coliseum
Game 6: Halifax Metro Centre
Game 7: Moncton Coliseum
So 1-1-1-1-1-1-1, as opposed to the standard 2-2-1-1-1, or even 2-3-2 series'. First time I can recall that happening.
Dunno how I missed them playing last night... ?
Only Gatineau @ Rouyn-Noranda are playing tonight. Go Huskies Go

IIRC (I was still very hungover at the time) at the end of game 2 the Fog Devils went after Bourdon which lead to his major late in the 3rd. I also recall the announcers saying they were going after Bourdon.
In other news, Drummondville knocked off defending Memorial Cup Champions, Quebec Rampart this evening.
Both PEI and Moncton won to keep their playoff dreams alive. PEI forces game 6, whereas Moncton forces game 7. Despite what RedHot25 and Halifax Drunk might think of this next comment "Go Cats Go". It's easier for me to get to Moncton than Bathurst, I'm less afraid of Moncton in Round 2, and I really hate Halifax... more than the Canucks or Oilers even.
In the other game tonight Mathew Lombardi's former Q-team, the Victoriaville Tigres held on to force game 6 as well.

Ha .
Too bad Moncton traded Bourdon to C. Breton. I was really looking forward to seeing him play, and didn't get the chance when C. Breton came at the end of the season.
A Halifax-C. Breton series would be utterly FANTASTIC. For those of you who have never been down here....think Flames-Oilers in the rivalry heyday. Good times, good times indeed.
Anyways, for the Moosehead-Cats game 6. Bah. Well shows what happens if Halifax takes the 2nd period off. Although you can't fault him on some of the goals...but Yettman. Yikes, what a bad goalie. Well that is just my opinion of having watched him during the playoffs and the odd time in the regular season. I know he's "youngish" (17-18?) but his rebound control is absolutely hideous, he doesn't appear to inspire confidence in his troops, and he pretty much is guaranteed to let in a soft goal or 2 every game. Why they keep starting him, I don't know. Even last night on a couple of tips (although I think he maybe could have had one of them), when they scored he just did the shoulder shrug thing on the ice with the "well I was screened/it was tipped how was I supposed to stop it" type of thing. Which is bull in the playoffs, you take it as it is. It was tipped? Sure, but ultimately its your job to stop it. Even if it was next to impossible, you don't give those looks...if I was his teammates I wouldn't be too impressed. It almost looked more like he was doing it for any scouts in attendance to let them know that it wasn't his fault type of thing. Just bad.
Anyways, why they keep playing him and not Kennedy I do not know. Not that Kennedy is himself a superstar, but there just appears to be more confidence with him in net.
And as for the Remparts losing - not surprised. Well I should qualify that by saying in my expert opinion (that constitutes seeing them play live once), they were horribly disappointing. Esposito floated for most of the game, and the team has big guys that did nothing with their size. Even Roy was disappointing .

I knew Halifax was throwing in the towel when they traded Duchesne to Val d'Or. Same with Moncton trading Bourdon to Cape Breton, basically threw in the towl.
Yettman's surprised me in what he's done in Halifax, and I'm surprised he over took Kennedy for the starters position. Mind you I've never seen Yettman play (I too missed the last Eagles/Moose game in Halifax) but Kennedy's nothing impressive.
The Eagles/Moose rivalry isn't what it used to be. Oh man I should see if I can find videos from the 01/02 season. I've never seen a rivalry like that EVER. The QMJHL used to have Cape Brton and Halifax play a home at home series over New Year's. The 30th in Sydney, the 1st in Halifax. Well in the 01/02 season there was a huge brawl at the end of the warmup. The blood was so bad that former Moosehead Ryan Flynn dislocated Nick Greenough's shoulder during the New Year's Day game ending him QMJHL career.
The playoffs the two teams met in Round 2. I can't begin to describe it.
When I get a little more time I'll look for the videos on YouTube.
Have you found your way to
Moosetalk: http://mooseheads.proboards33.com/index.cgi
Wildcats Unofficial: http://mooseheads.proboards33.com/index.cgi
or Nestcape: http://nestcapev.proboards40.com/index.cgi
some great sources for Jr Hockey information... I'm assuming that Moosetalk and the Cats board still are, I only ever check Nestcape

Baie-Comeau upsets Victoriaville in 6. Leaving four of the six Maritime teams left to play game 7's tomorrow night.
PEI/Bathurst ... I'm predicting Bathurst with the win
Halifax/Moncton ... please let it be Moncton

The pick just dropped in Charlottetown to start game 7 of PEI and Bathrust.
Halifax and Moncton's game is being webcast via Eastlink Television in 25 minutes (7:30 AST, I think that's 4:30 Mountain)
http://www.eastlink.ca/eltv/ELTV_WebCasting/webcast.ram
edit: 2-2 with less than 10 during the 3rd frame in Moncton
Titan knock out PEI in OT

Well Yetteman with a couple of huge saves there a min or 2 ago...guess I have to give him his due. Surprised he is starting this game though.
