The Burbs get a little crazy...
Artists growing a wheat field on the front lawn of a home in a Calgary suburb have drawn the attention of bylaw officers who are ready to issue tickets once the crop exceeds the city's six-inch rule for lawns.
In the past, neighbours were forced to live near a yard with a naked doll on a ladder attached to a tree and a mountain-like structure made of cardboard that was taller than the house itself.

While I'm all for shaking up the cookie cutter acres of beige vinyl siding in suburbia, I have to admit, wacky mountain like structures might be a little too much if it were my neighbor.
Not that it's going to grow much more with this weather....

Someone should toss a few jars of crickets, locusts and grasshoppers on that mofo and see what happens. Crickets especially....the only thing funnier than a hippie is an angry one.

They do realize a wheat field is not a lawn, it could be classified as a garden. Front yard is pushing ith though, but they may have a case if they claim that the combine can't fit in thier backyard.

I don't think they'd mind. That's nature after all. Sounds like kind of the point.
Wow though, we really are a bunch of tightasses when it comes to keeping things pretty (aka green grass). How long did wheat grow on that very plot of land? This goddamn province was built on agriculture, and some guy plants some wheat on his postage stamp lawn and they send out the authorities with a measuring tape.
"HIS YARD IS NOT GREEN! FINE HIMMMM"!

I can't believe no one Molotov tailed that thing. What an eyesore.
Then again, we have a former grow op across the street that's uninhabitable. The yard sits in various states of disarray. Theres a big hole beside the house where the guy illegally connected his power, the backyard is a giant weed experiment. The lawn gets mowed about once every 2 months.
