Glen Abbey golf course
I have an opportunity to golf at Glen Abbey in the Toronto area next month as part of a conference. I'm a lousy golfer  , average score of 110. Is this the kind of course someone like me should golf on? I definitely don't want to golf with guys who golf in the 80s and 90s so I'd have to teamed up with other hackers. I'm worried about me even being on this course.
I'd be interested in the opinions of others who have golfed there for a hacker such as myself.

My dad has played there a few times and he is no superstar on the golf couse. Seems to me like it might be a once in a lifetime chance and you should go regardless of your skill level.

I golfed there when i was around 16. Usually shoot 90 on normal public courses and it was embarassing at Glen Abbey. I think i shot 115 but i parred 4 out of 18 holes. So on the other 14 it was tough. Real tough. So expect to shoot about 20 shots above what you normally do.

I agree with FRank. I'm not a golfer, at all (so why I am responding to this I am not so sure...), but I say go for it! Why not?
Like you said, if you feel more comfortable with other golf schlubs (i.e. those who are as bad as you), then do that. Or if you end up with good golfers, just let them know that you aren't so great? You could always play best ball or whatever it is called? I.e. make your hit....but then maybe move it up with the rest of the golfers? This way you won't hold things up, but at the same time can still golf and enjoy whoever's company you are with?
I don't know, up to you, but I'd say definately go for it.

If things get really bad there is no shame in picking up your ball until the next hole. (well, depending on who you are golfing with there could be a lot of shame, but if it keeps you moving people will respect that).

Just because the golf course is exclusive and/or expensive doesn't mean its members are any better than you are. I know plenty of people who golf only the finest golf courses but routinely shoot where you do. Also in a work/networking setting I find it more detrimental to be a better golfer than your peers than being a worse golfer. If you replace throwing clubs and swearing with a little self-depreciating humor it might actually make a better impression professionally than if you were a scratch golfer and blew them away. Your only as embarrassed as you make yourself embarrassed. It's a great golf course, enjoy the scenery , that's why you're there.

Go for sure! No need to pass this up, you'll just regret it later. Just play your game and have fun.
Wear some really wild plad pants and a royal purple shirt, people may not notice how bad you are.

its on tiger woods 07 for the 360! its a great course on there.
seriously, you should play. a once in a lifetime opportunity. have fun. and remember that it isn't even "fine tuned" to pga standards. i have a buddy who played one just after an event and he said it was like putting on glass.
and take your camera with you.
you will remember that round for the rest of your life...and especially when you have a great hole.

glen abbey isn't an extremely tough course...and lets be honest, you're not exactly going to be playing the tips anyways. why wouldn't you want to play where the greats have played? take advantage of that opportunity man!

Yeah, go for it. From what a few people I know say, it isn't as tough as you think it is. Don't get me wrong it's a tough course, but they aren't going to have it set up like they would if there were a tournment going on.
Just don't take above a 9, if you get to 9, pick up your ball, put a 9 down on the card and away you go. The worst you can shoot is 162.
