Default Kid Icarus is one of the hardest games ever...

I could not get past the second level when i was a kid, and after over ten tries I still cannot get past it as an adult. Its those damn flying squid things that keep screwing me over.

This game boils my blood, but I will not stop (I will take long breaks) until I get further in the damn game.

Another furiously difficult game, Gradius.

They sure don't make games difficult like they used to.

Have you played it recently? There is so much flying at you at once all the time. The problem is even when you have full upgrades, one hit kills you, and then you start again at near the point you died, however you have no upgrades.

Its sequel, Life Force was easy (relatively speaking).

one hit kills you? you obviously dont use shields.

get the shields, get enough power ups to highlight where the shields used to be so you could renew your shields if it ever goes down.

and make sure you dont get hit from behind

Kid Icarus, hard? Not at all. Have you tried Contra without cheats?

That ^#%@ING Bomb level!!!!!
Never beat that game.

I just beat Kid Icarus a couple weeks ago, love that game, and it gets SOOOOO easy when you beat the trials and get the magic items like the shield and super arrows.

Want hard? Try R-Type for the TG 16. That was one freaking hard game.

I agree on contra; ditto Battletoads.

Am I the only one that feels games have gotten way to easy nowadays. I'm one of those gamers that really really likes a challenge and will never use a cheat or even a walkthrough until I've beated it once myself. But I find very few games cahllenging nowadays.

Course a lot of games in yesteryear could be hard in a cheap sort of way. I don't want to have to spend 6 hours figuring out the exact trajectory of some stupid jump. Or in the case of games like Simon's Quest (Castlevania 2) 'kneel at the river with the blue pearl?' What? Where was the in game clue for this completely random act?

WOW, I had that game too.

That was kinda hard, but I remember beating at 8 or 9 so it couldn't have been terrible. But holy smokes, blast from the past!

The point was to go into the wells to find the pieces to the phone, phone home and make sure it was safe and FBI free when you get on the ship. It took some experimentation and patience for sure, but not overly difficult.

Now if anyone can tell me about the Earthquest games (Earthquest, Firequest, Waterquest, Airquest) for Atari, I could never beat those. And they actually had a contest where you could win a bejeweled sword if you were the first to complete it.

It came with a comic full of clues done by DC or Marvel.
