Takes a lot of courage to do something like this ... it will be interesting to see what reaction or news comes of this when he ... to be she ... returns to work.

So this is what Jim Rome was refusing to comment about.

It takes a brave man...err...woman...err TS to do something like this in a national publication.
Glad to see the US is starting to pull it's head out of it's collective ass on gender issues, though not surprisingly it starts in Cali

Eric Francis, possibly the next openly transexual columnist?
Locke.

I once worked with a guy who, after he quit our company, got the "full meal deal" done. Kind of a creepy after effect feeling, knowing that I sat right beside him for a number of years.
He was a hairy bugger too...

Well this makes no sense. Girls can't be sports writers.

A follow-up on this in the Times today . . . . . an enormous response to the paper.

Women reporters are common in dressing rooms these days.
Transgender reporters . . . . well, it would be hard to believe that in the testosterone-fuelled average dressing room that he's, er, she isn't going to attract some tomfoolery and perhaps even some nastiness.
Not saying its right but he, er she, has to know the transformation probably won't pass without comment or jocularity.

After reading the articles, I have to say that coming out in such a public way must have taken a lot of guts. I think that if I was in that situation that I probably wouldn't be able to do that.
