There was a pretty good thread on this a few months ago. I didn't go through it again but if i remember correctly, there were a lot of good suggestions there.

if you need a suit in a hurry...then this might not help.
i usually buy my suits at the bay downtown. depending on your build...you will likely find a "brand" that has a flattering cut for you.
for me, when i can get jones new york on sale...that's a good deal.
if i could be so bold as to offer some suit advice that i got years ago that has done well...i would build your wardrobe out using the classics. blue, black, and grey. and get one sports jacket with one pair of slacks. from there, choose shirts that go with those suits. and ties that work with all 3. don't cheap out on shoes.
sorry if i'm covering old ground.

It really depends on the suit and the fabric its made out of.
Tip Top and Moores have decent suits if you're willing to spend at least $300. My last suit was Moores, it was $450 and made with Italian fabric. The stuff they advertise is pretty sub-par though.
That being said, when I graduate from Law School (whenever that is), I'll definitely upgrade my suits to something in the $1000 range. Probably Grafton or Harry Rosen.

Whatever you buy just make sure it is at least 3000 dollars, this will ensure that hilarious quotes can ensue!

Spend a couple Hundred on a suit, you'll look like a Thousand bucks.

Henry Singer. I just got two. They were perfect.
Custom made ones are great as well.

Moores is a good deal and often they have a sale this time of year.
They do all the tailoring but it does take a couple days. The good thing about Moores' tailoring (if you have the time) is that once you get it tailored (say, the waist) all subsequent adjustments are free. So if you gain or lose weight you just pay once.

Hmm, well against the objection of all the Hugo Boss sucks group. I bought a few of them awhile back.
I had a Moore's suit from October/November that I wore once. Thought it was okay..
After buying a few of the Boss suits I had trouble putting back on the Moore's suit. It was $500 vs $1,200 and felt that way too!
Like Cow, I also don't drive a BMW, but unlike Cow, I'd drive a Range Rover

I just wanted to move this thread a little and ask if anyone has ever haggled over the price of a suit. I would like to know if they price is negotiable since some of these suits are costing quite a bit.

I suppose it would depend where you buy, and maybe if you are buying like 4 instead of 1. My guess is that your only hope would be at lower end stores and you are buying more than 1.
