I finally understand the meaning of: “You don’t know what you got ‘til it’s gone”. Today, April 19, 2007 I was fired from the Florida Panthers of the CPHL. I didn’t expect to mind because my interest level had gone way down but I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this is a tough pill to swallow. I shouldn’t have to tell you guys how much time and effort I have put into the panthers over the past 3 years and to have it all end in one quick instance is difficult or me to comprehend. But alas, the league has made its decision and I have to live with it. For lack of a better word I am very sad and am gonna miss the CPHL like you wouldn’t believe.
I have met some great people and have made some awesome friends as a result of the CPHL. I want to believe that not everyone hated me and am pretty sure that I have made some friends around here that I can one day meet and have a few beers with.
I want to recognize those who have not only made a difference in my life, but those who I have gotten to know and look forward to talking too both on a CPHL and personal level.
Grant: I got the PM from you saying I was fired and it hurt. I understand the decision and hold no hard feelings. I wanted to be the bad guy, the guy who everyone hated because I believe that every place needs someone like that. Call me the Sean Avery of the CPHL if you want…LOL. But, I guess I currently don’t work well here. Most people seem to want to hold hands and sing kumbaya as the nation anthem before each game and IMO it gets boring. But it isn’t my league and I should have tried harder to follow the rules. I am sorry and I hate to put you in this position. You are a great GM and I have watched you get better over the years. There was a time when I could get a good deal off of you but lately you have gotten too good and have become difficult to trade with. You are a smart guy and know your “poop”. Take care!
Kris: We have had our ups and downs. I just want to say that I respect you as a GM and commish for all the great things you have done for this league and I really respect you as a person for all the other stuff that is going on in your life. Not sure how you feel about me these days but you are one guy I would love to have a few beers and pound back some hamburgers with someday!
Jeff (flambers): You are a standup guy and an extremely dedicated person. You have also done a ton for this league and you don’t need my praise to see what you’ve done to help the CPHL, all you have to do is look around.
Cheese: You probably won’t even see this but I really enjoyed our chats. Take care bud!
Axel: I think we talked more about personal stuff than the CPHL! I would love to visit you someday and who knows, maybe your wife can get me that job you have always hinted at! I will also come to you again for my next trip which will probably been sooner rather than later.
Neil: You are a dirty Oilers fan but I really enjoyed our conversations. You have made an impact on me and this entire league. I really hope that you decide to stick with the CPHl because it needs great GM’s like you.
Doug: MAN, do you know how to write long conversations in MSN or what! I have really enjoyed every conversation we’ve had over the years and will miss talking about the CPHL, MMA, Pink Floyd….I will keep my eyes open for more live stuff for you too.
Becky: Another person I have had an up and down relationship with but I can easily say that without a doubt, the good outweigh the bad, for me anyways…LOL I hope you keep reading my Nunavut log book an enjoy the pictures. Stay in touch if possible.
Chad: Well there was a time when I didn’t like you a whole lot but have come to really enjoy chatting with you. You make me laugh and are not afraid to speak your mind on the site. Keep it up, just don’t get out of control like I did!
Sunil: Agent to a GM, I have always liked you. You’re a great guy and I wish you all the best in the CPHL and in life.
Jim: You are one tough SOB when it comes to trades. You even try to take advantage of me! On more than one occasion I wanted to tell you to fawk off but I always held my tongue believe it or not because I often try the same stuff! You make me laugh and you have a great team. Keep sending out those trades and someone might take Girard off your hands! LOL
Troy: Our battle really heated up this year but it was a result of us both having kick a$$ teams. I think our disagreements were a direct result of that and I hold no hard feelings towards you at all. You are a great GM and I expect good things from the Habs in the future.
NOOOOOB: I know you are a great human being and an extremely nice person. I have had people say to me that you are the nicest person in the league which I why I was able to get under your skin. I really don’t hold any grudge against you at all and hope for nothing but the best for you. Because you are so damn nice and everyone likes you made for an easy target for me, the “bad gm”. I know you are a great guy even if you do still look like Alex Auld…haha. Oh and don’t worry, I have had poo plug my nose before as well, it’s how the world works…lol
Tim: Nash thanks m everyday for getting him out of Ottawa. Seriously though, you are a great GM and a wonderful person. There were days when I would sit by my computer and wait for you to log on MSN so I could talk trade with you. Good luck next year with that young team of yours!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS: Another good guy here folks. I liked our trade talk and was really looking forward to talking with you in the off-season. Good luck with your team bud!
Drew: You pushed me to the limit in round one and you should have won. You’ve done a hell of a job with that TB team and Protto has a very valid argument for you being GM of the year.
Hesla: We had some good chats as well. I wish you nothing but the best with your team and in your life. I hope you keep having great months at work and keep that money rolling in. maybe one day I will come to Cow Town and find you a nice lady friend…lol
Sandra: Another super nice person and a genuinely great girl. You probably hate me for acting like I have and I am sorry. I admire you and think you are amazing. Maybe I can show you a new picture or two every once in awhile.
Protto: Good luck with the Nordiques next season. You are on the verge of becoming a playoff team once again.
Drunk: Keep a spare bed available for me when I come to visit. Maybe this summer! Glad I brought you to this league as you are a very important part of it man!
Mike: I hope you kick Protto’s butt next year! HAHA Take care man and enjoy teaching.
Punk: Have fun with that team! I envy you!
Steve: Another guy I am pretty sure hates me considering the hate messages I use to get on MSN but I want you to know that I am sorry and was only playing the game a certain way. How I acted in the CPHL does not dictate how I am in person. I was playing a role and it went too far I guess.
LOOOB: We didn’t talk a whole lot but when we did it was good. I always got a message back form you and as a long time member of this league I say keep it up! You are someone who proves you don’t need MSN to be active in the CPHL.
James: A good run by you this year, keep it going for next year bud, you are gonna be a strong team once again.
Trevor: I enjoyed chatting with you as well, you will do much better next seaon I am sure of it.
Agents: Thanks for the discussions, I would like to think we have always gotten along and you guys might be some of the only people to understand that I am not always a big jerk. I am nice when I need to be and being nice to the agents is essential!
Goffie: My best bud! I don’t need to explain myself to you because you know how I am and you know how I played this game. Enjoy the CPHL, I am glad I brought you here because you are probably the most dedicated GM in it right now and would make an amazing Commish!!!! P.s. I can’t wait to get my package here…LOL
I am probably forgetting some people and I am sorry if I did. I am still in shock and can’t believe I am writing this. It is tough to say goodbye and click “post” because I know when I do it will be my last time posting. I am not sure what else to say but enjoy the rest of the playoffs and enjoy the CPHL. I really do hope that everyone who complained and wanted me gone has a much better time in the CPHL with me out of the way.
Thanks for three wonderful years.
Goodbye everyone.
