Great Steakhouse in Calgary?
My wife and I are thinking of going for steak tonight before the game.
Does anyone have any good suggestions for where to go?
We have gone to Ceasars a few times before, so I am looking for somewhere else. Nicks on 14th is a place we go often too. The Keg is also too common. Is the Red Carpet on Glenmore still good? I havent been there in 10 years.
The only requirements are that it is a nice place, has great steaks, and will let me in wearing my Flames jersey.
Any ideas?

Stick with Caesar's. Now that Hy's is gone, it is easily the best steak in the city. If you just wanted a change of scenery, Vintage on 11th and 2nd is excellent with an extensive wine list.

If you want a great steak at a "Family Restaraunt" environment, and not for a ton of money...I highly recommend Nick's Steakhouse across from McMahon Stadium.
Love that place.

Ugh. My wife and I had a terrible - TERRIBLE experience there some time ago. They 'lost' our reservation for a table of two and we ended up waiting an hour and a half just for our table ... then we were promptly ignored by the servers ... then we ordered steak and lobster and the 'steak' was the crap meat you'd get on a steak sandwich. I will never, ever go back there on my coin again.

I couldn't agree more with both of your recommendations. Caesar's is #1 for me and Vintage has been a great experience every time I've eaten there.

Hy's is gone? When did that happen? Why?
Caesar's is deadly though, as long as it remains I'll be ok. Best steak I have ever eaten. Cheese bread is something else too.

We've been to the Reef N' Beef several time. I think it's a great place for steak, and especially prime rib. I've never had a bad experience there. Great food, reasonable prices.

Madison's has some good steak.
Is Billy McIntyre's Cattle Company still around?
I have only been to the one in Edmonton, but Ric's Grill is one of my favorites.

Can't believe I'm the first one to mention this on here...but for prime rib, nothin beats Smuggler's Inn, on MacLeod Trail, somewhere around Chinook. Love the atmosphere in there too, with those big throne chairs, and the really dim lighting.

It happened in December/January. Hy's sold the property to developers for a bundle (Keg shareholders rejoice). They are looking for new space and hoping to re-open in the next year or two.
