Default Vague comments from GMs

I'll move this to its own thread.

There have been some vague comments made from some GMs that some of you are thinking about quitting. If this is the case please let us know directly, don't keep us in the dark.

If you do want to quit - no problem whatsoever. No hard feelings at all.

If you're life has changed and you need to move on...no problem.

If you aren't finding the league fun anymore - no problem.

But let us know directly.

I don't forsee myself quitting this league until the Isles make the playoffs at the very least..... which means I'll be here for at least another 3 seasons!

Well I wasn't vague with my PM to you Grant but this thread is not the correct way to go about things at all. I know this league is famous for the "tough stance" but I believe we need to work together to stop several GM's from leaving for the good of the league. The "if you don't like it take a hike cause it's a free game" approach is getting old.

From what i am hearing it doesn't look like anyone is willing to do anything to fix the obvious lack of interest. Look around, this league is practically dead. Why not work on fixing it before it's too late?

Did I say this Dave? Don't put words in my mouth.

The league is constantly looking to improve and chances are with every off-season there will bring changes. New ratings, new rules, new GMs.

To suggest that the league is dead during the playoffs is pretty much an overreaction. Not much can happen during the playoffs other than games being simmed. Trades and what not are on hold. Fart - there's only 8 of 32 teams still around.

Now if you want we can go back to the days when GMs were mandated to write games stores following each game and what not - but the message I got from some is that they didn't have time to do it. So those that do can feel free but I'm not going to force people to do something they don't want to.

Other than that I honestly have no clue what you are talking about when you say the league is dead.

Your PM identified the late simming of game as a problem. Well we sim them as early as we can. We are in Calgary - you are further East. That's just the way it is. It ain't going to change.

You also said the ratings are the problem. I have also stated in the past that I think the ratings held back trade activity. But again - that's an off-season thing that will be dealt with.

Bull. Again we are always working to improve the league. But if you are finding that the league is too dull for you then move on.

If you want to stay and help improve that's great too. But do you really think that we are going to make a bunch of changes during the playoffs? Why not wait until the off-season before stirring all this crap up.

Maybe I'm totally oblivious but the GMs I talk with are happy with the league. And we are always open to suggestions to improve but that doesn't mean all suggestions will be implemented, and more importantly it takes time to make changes and as much as possible we wait for the off-season to make changes.

Regardless please decide whether you want to be in the league in a positive manner or not and PM me by the end of day with your answer.

If I can throw in my 7 cents...........

I think we should wait till the playoffs are over to talk about and implement changes, etc. Nothing can be done now anyways and once playoffs are over, everyone involved can sit down and make the appropriate changes that are necessary.

I think changes can be made to improve the league but they always can as I think the league is always looking to get better. Personally like most gm's, I have about 3-4 suggestions to help the league but I will wait till playoffs are over. There are definately things that the league can be improved on but I think it's best till the offseason to wait on it. The league already is willing to take suggestions, etc.

In terms of the issues that were brought up.....I think ratings can be changed but the league has already said there will be changes this summer so they are doing a good job with that IMO.

In terms of simming.......I think simming for the most part is done at reasonable times. I know out east it seems late but u guys are like 3 hours ahead so that makes a difference. As long as the simmers say they can't do it for that day, then that is totally cool. And they have been doing that when they don't get the chance.

Anyways, I say we wait till offseason and then go over everything that needs to be. The league has stated they will already look at things that need to be and I know solutions will be made for the best of the league. Everyone wants to have fun ultimately in this league, that's the goal!

I agree with this 100% and just to add to this, I think the league is VERY OPEN to listening to what the GMs of the league wants. Rule modifications have ALREADY been done during this season as per various suggestions from the GMs. The commisioners are very willing to listen to and consider any suggestions GMs have had in the past.

And to be honest, you even have non-playoff GMs posting in the game threads... Drunk with his awesome photoshops, people with their predictions and reactions... really, I actually think the level of participation considering there are only 8 teams involved in any game action is high.

Agreed... which is why your thread had me worried... as far as I know, people seem to be happy with the CPHL...

I for one dont understand "the league is dead" comment. I am more less sitting back waiting for the offseason to begin like about 24 other teams. Ive have been taking it easy and havent been around the past couple weeks and have enjoyed some time away from the computer. Seeing as its the offseason for me and playoffs for others this is about as good a time as any. I still check the forum a dozen times a day and would like to add that I am here for the long run.

I AM THE BAD GUY....OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

The bottom line is this. I have talked to SEVERAL good GM's who have said the "league is dead" and who have said "I might step down". I ain't making this crap up.

I wanted it addressed to stop them from leaving but instead I get bombarded with rebuttal's. You might not get what I am talking about but I have written it out as clear as day. Fix it in the offseason whatever IT is but at least come out with a 100% positive attitude and stop using the same line over and over. I truthfully don't want to quit but it is VERY difficult to stay interested for whatever reason and I am in the middle of the playoffs. Somehting is not right.

So go ahead and blame me, at least it has gotten SOME people talking. Other people suck and I wish they were fired already.

Anyone want names cause I am ready to go on a rampage. Or maybe I am fired already.

My expectation for this league are VERY VERY high. I have always bragged to people why it is the best league out there. Am I expecting too much?

Well, I'd like to make it known that I was going through a rough time in March and I was considering stepping down. I discussed my intentions with one of the commissioners.

To make a long story short, I'm here because I enjoy being part of the CPHL. I've met so many great people and the game is challenging.

I think we have a good group of GMs. Hopefully, everything will work out for what is best for all parties involved.
