Default Gap narrows between Tories, Liberals: poll

Yet another poll....

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNew...417?hub=Canada

A new poll suggests the gap between the Conservatives and Liberals has narrowed to three percentage points, another signal that a spring federal election may be on hold after all.

........

That's far short of majority government territory and two points back of where the Conservatives were on election day in January 2006.

.........

But Decima CEO Bruce Anderson says volatility in public opinion makes that a very risky proposition for anyone seeking a majority mandate.

The situation is especially intriguing in Quebec, where the Bloc hit a new low of 29 per cent, and the upstart Greens tracked 13 per cent.
The Liberals led the Tories 23-20 in the province, while the NDP trailed with 10 per cent support.

There will be no election call by the Cons, that would be bloodbath.

They will put out legeslation and force other parties to either vote yes or no. They just have to walk the tightrope of making sure the issue isnt so decisive it is seen as the Libs having no chance but to vote no.

There are a few by-elections coming up in QC, those will tell the tale as to who forces an election call. The Cons have all but given up on the Toronto area, they likely think they can sqeeze 10 more seats from ON and the maritimes, apart from that, QC is where they need to gain.

I wonder if the numbers have dropped because of the recent deaths of 8 soldiers.

It would be suicide for any of the major parties to push for an election right now.

Its likely that the conservatives would get another minority so the election serves no purpose. The liberals are broke, and I really think that Dion would get pounded on in a debate with Harper.

The NDP is losing ground to the Green's.

Elizabeth Gray has sold herelf out to the Liberals.

None of the parties are in a position of wanting an election.

I don't want an election right now, so this is good news as far as I'm concerned.
