Does anyone know where in Calgary I can get a X-Box serviced. I spoke to Microsoft and they want to charge $150CDN to fix my "Your disk is dirty" messge when it is a game I just bought.
I've tried the cd cleaner to clean the lens and that had no effect what so ever.
Any help would be appreciated.

It may not be your xbox. Try taking the game back to where you bought it from. If you tell them that the CD doesn't work, they should refund your money.
Also, I am assuming you have tried cleaning the CD. Just becuase the disk is new, doesn't mean it is clean. Give that a try before you go to take it back.
Also, if you bought from somewhere other than a reputable dealer, you may have paid for a "hacked" version that requires a gameshark in order for you to play it.
Other than that, I have no idea where to get an xbox fixed. Sorry.

If all of the above suggestions have failed you, you might as well sell it to Cash Converters for $10 and buy a new XBOX with that $150 MicroCrooks is gonna charge you to fix it. A brand new XBOX is only abotu $190ish retail right now. That or you can eat at McDonald's everyday in hopes that you will get the Vermont Monopoly stamp, then you can PM me and I'll give you the other 2 stamps for $20, and you take those 3 stamps and get yourself a new XBOX

If it's only this game, take it back.
If you have problems with other games I *might* be able to get you a replacement drive depending on if we have the parts.

Yeah, do other games work? If so, then it is this specific disc that is having problems and not the X-Box laser.
If indeed it is the laser, you can buy a new one for about $20-$25 US on ebay and install it yourself. Don't pay to have it serviced, you can save $120 if you do it yourself. DIY!!!

Well it is happening to all my old favorite game KOTOR, Rainbow six and Tiger woods golf. As well as the two brnad new game I got form Wal-mart. Fable and ESPN2K5.
I would have to say that it is not the games but rather the xbox itself.

It's probably your drive, older XBox's have a Thomson brand that is absolutely horrendeous. They've been replaced by Samsung's in the newer models and work brilliantly.
Which one do you have?

Yeah, that's the bad one. I had one and it caused alot of problems. Namely Dirty Disk Errors.
I traded it in at EB for like $70 credit and bought a new system and luckily it had the Samsung drive and I haven't had ANY dirty disk errors since.

Xbox Owner Sues Over Defective Disk Drives
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A video game fan upset over a failed disc drive in his Xbox video game console has sued Microsoft Corp. on behalf of all Xbox owners across the United States.
The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, seeks to represent anyone who bought an Xbox in the United State since the console's November 2001 launch.
The plaintiff, Sean Burke, said his console stopped reading any and all discs after less than a year of use, whether those discs were games, CDs or DVDs.
"The defective Xboxs stop working after minimal usage, after unreasonably, unconscionably, unusually and unexpectedly short amounts of time," the lawsuit said.
Microsoft said it was reviewing the complaint.
"We've designed and manufactured the Xbox with the highest quality standards and our customer satisfaction is very high," the company said in a statement.
The suit seeks damages, restitution and various other costs and fees.

It's probably just the DVD drive. Like S.N. mentioned.
BTW Faid do you have alot of parts for x-boxes? I am looking for a 1.0 MotherBoard the one where the LPC holes are filled in with solder.

I don't have alot and if I did it wouldn't be a motherboard. When those things fry you have to salvage the REST of the parts.
