It's better than losing your key. I just had a new one cut for an 05 Malibu.
$134 dollars, whats the deal with that?

AMA are great for remedying my stupidity for free (i.e. leaving the lights on and draining the battery, locking the keys in the trunk)

Are there any rocks around? Vandalism is rampant in this city.
60 bucks ain't bad. Hold off until regular hours though because they'd probably charge an arm and a hoof at this time of night.

Does someone somewhere have the spare set of keys? If it has the remote entry, they can press the remote on their phone while you hold your cell phone up. The signal should come through.

I saw somewhere you can use a Tennis ball to force open your lock. You cut a hole in it and pump it like you would a plunger in your toilet on the keyhole and the air pops the lock up.

With the ammount of times I see this happen I always think the person who finds the ultimate solution to keep someone from locking their keys in their car ever again is going to be very rich indeed. Then again a retina scan or thumb print identifier for cars probably will be common place one day...

Get a metal hanger, stick it along the glass near where the lock is, then move it over when you get about 6 inches down, and then lift.
I've had to do that on my car before...

that's a myth
besides, who would lock their keys in their car if they have a remote? i know with mine i always use the remote to lock/unlock my car, so it's physically impossible for me to lock it with my keys still in it. course i did it all the time with my old car without a remote, which made having a spare tucked away under the chassis with one of those magnet holders so worthwhile

For older cars its easy to lift the locking knob up with a piece of steel wire slided trough door and the chassis. It can also be done to a newer cars, sliding the wire between the window and the door and lifting the rod that belongs to the lock mechanism.

Tennis Ball solution definitely doesn't work.
Next solution up: Wire.

Assuming you don't have some fancy luxury car (w/ bizarre computer chip etc..) this is a definate solution. If you phone AMA or a tow trucky they will basically use a fancier coat hanger and do exactly the same thing. The vast majority of cars have a wire near the door handle you merely need to trip. Look up on the internet if your model does and go for it.

anyways....if you don't need your car til tomorrow, phone ama and become a member today, then call them tomorrow and ask them to come unlock your doors. It's probably almost the same price as getting it done once.

The safe they filled with water then blew the door open was very cool.
If you have any friends with AMA, have then drop by then call. AMA is for the person, not the vehicle. As long as they say they were catching a ride with you, AMA will open the door.
