Negative Rep for the use of the word Bandwagon
I think it is a good idea. I am so sick and tired of every Johnny come lately stopping by this board and calling anyone who is critical of the team a "bandwagon fan". I know this has been a common complaint for a few years but now since we have the rep system why not use it to curb this BS?
Everyone is entitled to their oppinions but every thread I read some dumbass is whipping out the ever cool "watch your ankles from jumping on and off the bandwagon" reference and it is PLAYED OUT. I have not even been posting much lately for this reason...good forbid someone offers critical analysis that shines a less then glowing light on the team or players or coaches....because then your a bandwagon fan....
Anyways....my rant is over. I realize only a small portion of posters ever use this reference and certainly dont want to paint everyone with the same brush but I think if the constant bandwagon junk could somehow be curbed this place would be even better then it already is.

Not thinking this is going to happen, man. If people are unable to express opinions (whether you or I agree with them or not) then this board is pointless. If you don't like it, my advice would be to ignore it.

While the term Bandwagon is over-used, the negativity on this board has reached mammoth proportions. I get the sense that some people wouldn't be happy unless the Flames won the Cup by sweeping every series on their way.
The Bandwagon comments are a natural response to it.

I think any comment to generalize a group of fans with an opinion "Playfair lover" or "Playfair hater" or "Bandwagoner" or "Kool-aid" or sarcastic comments like "Ference fan-boys must want him back now? LoL!!!111!!!!" should be given blues.
The who sarcastic "Lol!!!11!!" should be given blue squares

I can't believe you guys are advocating this ... perhaps there is some truth to the labels people are applying if you're getting so upset about it. If you don't like it, don't read it.
I certainly hope people don't get the blues for certain specific phrases, but if these people are truly as mentally deficient as you all believe they are, blue squares will certainly be the result of their other posts.

I don't think applying labels to people is really a good way of generating healthy discussion. I think people, when posting, should discuss the content instead of attacking the person with a label...seems to be why the reputation system was implemented, no?
edit: I guess your second paragraph is saying kinda what I'm saying....the specific word shouldn't deserve a blue square...the content of said post does (if it's a mindless attack...)

To expand on my orginal point....My oppinion is that the wack jobs who come into a reasonable discussion weather it be a GT, PGT, GDT or any other thread and start wishing the Flames lose because they "dont deserve it" or because it will "teach them a lesson" should be called out and using terms such as bandwagon or fair weather fan may be applicable.
But those were not the people I was talking about in my orginal post. I am talking about the fact any person who shines any sort of a negative light on the Flames, their play, their players or their coaches, regardless of how well thought out or put together the thought may be, is pounced on and eventually called bandwagon fan or some derivative of such. To me that is an issue worth addressing, but I see from some of the responses I have recieved so far my oppinion isnt widely shared...which is fine...this is just my 2 cents.

If anything, a message board is like hockey. You need enforcers to keep behavior civil and reasonable. Instituting a blanket negative rep ban on certain responses or words is like putting in the instigator penalty in CP and leads to too much referring (moderation).
Therefore, the bigger issue to me is the potential chill effect that results from people desiring to call these people out, but choosing not to in fear of rep reprocussions.
