Default Upset about son not attending church...

Wow. Just too scary.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=P8Aq00yJSxo

I am so naive when it comes to something like this, I'm going to
phone my parents tonight and thank them for treating me with
respect when I made the same decision.

I'm not so sure if it isn't more the kid doing it out of rebellion rather than as a rational choice. That was the impression I got from that short clip anyway.

Either way the parents should have handled it much better.

What was even more amazing about the God Warrior was that she had a ton of friends just like her who treated her replacement with stunning and open hostility simply because she was an astrologist.

What I found funny was how the mother pulled out the "no Christmas gifts" threat and linked that with the meaning of Christ and Christmas. And it backfired! The kid seems to have his ducks in a row better than she does.

Who films this kind of family confrontation? Looks to me like this little punk set up his own mother to be humiliated on the internet.

His mom does need to learn a few things about her faith though. "You won't get any Christmas presents" is a little flimsy.

As for the God Warrior lady -- that woman is deranged. I feel a little guilty about watching that (for the 10th time). She's obviously mentally ill. Never mind the unbelievable can on her.

The kid is obviously old enough to make this sort of decision and the mothers response of "no Christmas gifts" is the kind of defence you would pull for a little child. "So you're not going to clean up your toys before dinner? Well no dessert for you then!" If this is the way his mother acts in regards to religion it's really not surprising that he would be against it.

Maybe he did it for his own protection?

Perhaps he thought his parents might get violent?

Sorta looked to me as though a sibling scooped the opportunity to record his or her mom going bananas. Almost had a sense of urgency at the end where the recording was stopped just as abruptly as it started.

And Rouge, I'm surprised that you're going out on a limb and making those assumptions (and tossing out insults), especially when it's a kid that appears to be challenging sheep-like following of religion.

I'm obviously going to be a little biased about this because I believe in God. Just to say before anyone begins to bash my opinion.

I agree with you that all in all, the mother was wrong, religion should never be forced onto somebody and her reaction, tone of voice AND language is definitely not tolerated by church-goers.

Now, if her son got Baptized and confirmed WILLINGLY, then he is ALSO in the fault... being confirmed means you are solidifying your believe in God.

And that Christmas present threat, never gonna work.

That kid appears to be in his mid teens. If he is, and if he has already confirmed his faith, I'm going to say that he didn't make an independant decision.

Seriously, if a kid isn't prepared to decide whether he should drink or have sex when in his mid teens, how is he prepared to decide on one of the greatest questions in the universe?
