Default “Stump the Schwab” coming to Calgary......

KIDSPORT CALGARY'S STUMP THE SCHWAB

April 20, 2007

Red and White Club at McMahon Stadium

The FAN 960 is proud to team up with KidSport Calgary and Albi Homes for an event like Calgary has never seen. Stump the Schwab is based on the popular TV show on ESPN, where sports trivia expert and ESPN statistician Howie Schwab will match wits with some of Calgary's best. This evening is guaranteed to be entertaining and also includes live and silent auctions that will have the most wanted professional sports memorabilia and packages available. The event takes place on April 20th 6pm-10pm at the Red and White Club in McMahon Stadium.

Is this coming across Canada by chance? How do you sign up to be on the show?

Give him the Canadian version of Trivia and see how he does. Everytime I watch it there is a ton of questions on baseball and college sports but not much on hockey and the other sports. So I say make it 75% hockey questions and 25% other sports, take him out of his comfort zone and see how he does.

No just Calgary. He said he hardly does these types of events. Not sure how they got him to come here.

It's not the show. Stump the Schwab show is over I believe. This is just a charity event where a couple people will go up against him for fun.

He actually knows quite a bit about hockey. I think he grew up in New York and followed that Whalers as a kid. He certaily knows more about it than the average American Sports fan and has got numerous tough questions right on his show.

Yep, he knows his hockey.
He was on the Fan last week, and they asked him a CFL question - "Who is the current starting QB for the Stamps that played for Chi in MNF once?"

He didn't know, but as soon as they said "Henry Burris" he immediately said which college Burris went to, and what his record there was like... I was impressed by that...

I've watched a few times hoping for a NHL question, but I've never seen one. I'm horrible at trivia outside NHL and no nothing about American college sports, so I usually don't tune in. If they had more hockey questions, I probably would though.

The event takes place on Friday, April 20th, from 6:00 - 10:00PM at the Red and White Club at McMahon Stadium. Tables of eight are valued at $1,000 or $125 per ticket, and companies who purchase a table are also eligible to receive a $720 charitable tax receipt for their support and generosity. If you are interested in purchasing a table, please PM me.
